This is going to hurt. But rather they just get it done and over with so we can move on. Looks like Mitchell got what he wanted with the coach gone and is probably involved in hand picking who he wants. They have essentially made him the GM.

Another factor is the salary cap. The Cavs can offer one more year and an estimated $70 million more than any other team.


I can see why he's just going to take the extension and then maybe ask out in the next year or two. It seems to be what all the players are doing these days. With the way the system dictates it's really hard for any player to pass up on that type of money. I can see why he's going to resign with the Cavs. Much like Lillard did with the Blazers and Beal did with the Wiz.

The more lotto tickets you buy, the better the chance to hit the jackpot.

And we keep our own pick next year if it's top 14.

To me there's no point in treadmilling with your best player being 35YO, there's no path for the team to improve.

I still think Herro is a great trade fit over there in Cleveland even if they do resign Mitchell. Not saying Garland is going to be here but think there could be some 3 team trade possibilities.

But seriously, if Bam wants that supermax he gotta go back in the gym and practice his free throws, then become a 37-38% 3pt shooter, his production should increase to 25 ppg and may be enough to garner votes for All-NBA next year.

He can decline the extension for now and look for next season if he wants to bet on himself, and I think he can reach the 25ppg 10rbs level, no doubt.

If you read my posts I’d prefer him NOT to get the supermax but if it lit a fire that’s good. We’re not going to win regular season awards as long as Bam doesn’t have any help and Jimmy doesn’t care about the regular season.

We have idiots in the fan base who think he’s overpaid right now so I can only imagine the god awful takes when he gets his raise he deserves

2 coaches that have combined for 2 winning seasons total. Fascinated to see where Cleveland's optimism for Mitchell extending is coming from:

- Are they able to offer him a bigger bag than any team he'd be traded to?
- Is it their willingness to give him input on the next coach? (Does he want that input? My impression is that is usually doesn't end well)
- Is it because they are already progressing on an extension behind closed doors? (then why put out this messaging?)

Probably not gonna get clarity on this for a bit.

Cavs: Ingram
Pelicans: Garland

Either that or the league steps in when they do to prevent it from happening. Meanwhile James Harden is doing the exact some thing but burning every bridge and dragging Moreys name through the mud in interviews with videos being posted and the NBA has no issues with it. It’s only the Heat.

I have no idea what's real or not. But if I was a player, it wouldn't instill confidence in me that the FO wants me to decide the next coach. I would want a FO I can trust to be better at operating as a FO than me--someone with zero experience in that capacity and that should be focused on honing my basketball skills. Similarly, I would want a coach that I feel knows better than me.
