[Fischer] OG Re-Signing With Knicks Not A Certainty

Post#1 » by Tor_Raps » Thu May 23, 2024 5:39 pm

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10122338-knicks-rumors-og-anunoby-may-test-free-agency-consider-contracts-from-other-teams

“OG Anunoby returning to the New York Knicks may not be a surefire thing this offseason.

Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reported on the situation Thursday and noted there is some belief around the league that Anunoby, who has a player option for the 2024-25 campaign, "could reach unrestricted free agency and consider deals from other franchises in addition to New York." “

All the Raptors have to do is decline Brown/Trent and dump Boucher somewhere to offer OG the contract he'll probably be getting... just saying lol

It would almost be worth doing just to screw with Dolan, except that OG is not the ideal complement any more for Barnes et al. However, if it were up to me.... :)

OG is actually the exact player our starting lineup needs so not sure about that. Like the age/skillset is a perfect fit on practically every team in the nba. Now his injury history is another issue lol

New York the only ones not to vote to allow Toronto a WNBA franchise. Offer OG the max. **** these guys. Any updates on the lawsuit?

Ex Raptors threads are a popular theme lately.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Did you watch the product of our current Raptors? We obviously don't have much to talk about there at the moment lol.

It is probably just some posturing via agents to ensure OG gets a max deal. I do know I would be more comfortable paying OG $35-40m a season versus paying that to Pascal. This team could use his defense and shooting, and honestly he looked great in an expanded role in NY.

Not at that salary with his health history.

$25M or so? Sure. $40M for 60 games? No thank you.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

His agent IS the Knicks  Would be a strange self-own. I think that they want to get him overpaid in Philly because they realize he's not going to put them over the top. The NBA is fluid and Brunson likely put himself on the radar of other superstars with his stellar play in the post-season. Once OG locks in it's another Tobias Harris situation. A good but not core piece on a contender.

Ya his health is a legit concern on a contract that big but nothing about his playing style is a problem for this team.

1) From many Knicks’ fans own mouths, this whole CAA thing is an internal ponzi to siphon as much money from Dolan as they can. This is just a ploy by the Roses to let Dolan know they have to max OG.

2) Yet another couple of significant injuries for OG this year. No thanks. There is no world where OG is going to provide surplus value on a 40M per contract. Timing and situation matter. The Knicks are in a position where they have to, and can, absorb that risk.

3) I hate to break it to all of you, but OG didn’t want to play in Toronto anymore.

I saw him plotting with Pascal and Hali, at the end of series, at MSG.

OG is in a position of strength. Lebron is staying in LA. PG likely back with Clippers - I dont see him leaving LA, he loves living there.
Detroit, Philly will gladly give OG the max. It's a free asset for them. NY cant toy around low balling OG but I hope it blows up in their face if they do
