I like Missi as a project center with good tools. I just don't expect the Heat to take him at 15. He's too raw right now for him to get playing time on the Heat. And he'd likely just be a back up when he does start to put it together.

Sounds like they like Ware (as a project) and Holmes (As the Heat's Naz Reid) and they also kinda talk themselves into Edey (As the the Heat's Zubac) at the end lol

They do like the things about Edey I like. He has undeniable size, skill, BBIQ, and touch that's NBA ready. True Bigs have come back in a big way in the NBA now, especially with how the Wolves took down Denver. And most of them aren't switch monsters like Bam. However, the Heat would have to change their defensive playbook if they took Edey. But he would be the one player that would force Bam to the 4 day one, and could play with Kevin Love off the bench.

Edey is not realistic and asking Bam to be some sort of KAT type of stretch big is not realistic either. Instead of getting Centers just keep Bam there where he's been highly successful and work on getting guys bigger then 6'5 to play along side him that can shoot 3's for real.

I'm surprised how much they Don't like Filipowski though. Like they dismissed him from consideration straight up. They didn't even do that with Edey or Missi.

I definitely don't expect the Heat to pick Edey. But this, and a recent one from Ethan Skolnick really has made me think. How much longer can the Heat do their defense the way they do now? We put so much strain on Bam on defense along with expecting him to score 20 pts a game. He starts out on fire, but by the end of the season he declines a bit due to fatigue. He's about to turn 27, still young but not some super spry 21 year old either. Maybe they should be looking at getting true size to play with him again. And I don't mean big wings, I'm talking about guys that can regularly guard 7 footers like Bam does.
We already have to play zone a lot to compensate for guys like Herro, Rozier, Duncan, and Love. Maybe a top 5 defense is the ceiling for this type of roster. All the teams above the Heat have serious size, and so do most of the other top 10 defenses.

It would probably help cut down on the injures too

Spo has refused to play any center that can’t suitably stretch the floor with Bam. Whiteside, Yurtseven, Bryant, and Orlando Robinson are the ones that come to mind. Bryant and Robinson actually have the skill set but Spo still refused. Achuiwa was a 6’9 PF that Spo made into a backup Center cause his 3 ball was smoke and mirrors. Never played him with Bam
The only two he trusted were Kelly Olynyk and Meyers Leonard. But in the end he still preferred the more defensive switchy type. We had great success with Tucker and Crowder even though small in height had the typical burly PF size 240/250 with consistent 3 point shooting ability.
Kevin Love had a small cup of coffee as a running mate with Bam but also was vanished to backup Center by Spo because he was too slow on the switch.

That gets solved by prioritizing 2-way players with positional size so Bam isn't covering for 40-60% of the personnel on the floor at all times.
It's not like Edey is a rim protection savant or anything. That's Clingan.

I agree that's what the Heat want to do right now. The switchy burly undersized PF next to Bam is Spo's dream. However, i think this changes soon. They can't seem to keep these guys on the roster more than a season or 2, and their replacements can be hit or miss.
I think this approach changes from either Jovic really hitting next season, a major trade changing the makeup of the team (Mitchell or Trae), or (knock on wood) Bam getting hurt.

Draft Tristan da Silva. Some have been clamoring for the Jerami Grant/Kyle Kuzma archtype. If you can’t find the perfect center you got a 6’9 stretch 4 possibly staring us right in the face at 15.

With flexibility to operate as a 3, as well. Creates jumbo sets with Jovic and Bam

New Tankathon mock draft: https://tankathon.com/mock_draft
Would absolutely love if those were the first 14 picks (in any order), giving the Heat their choice among all of: Carter, Collier, McCain, Carrington, Da Silva, Ware, Holmes

Da Silva definitely works with the current make up of the team. Probably interchanges with Jaime, Jovic, and Highsmith for the 3 and 4 spots of the bench or when Jimmy is out.
I just get worried about how much this team depends on Bam. Jimmy raises the ceiling, but Bam keeps the team from being an early lottery team every season. The drop off is BAD when he sits. And then what happens when he's hurt? Atleast when Yurtseven was here he was effective in Bam's absense. Do we think Bryant, Love, or Robinson do this well enough? I see Adem Bona still on most mocks by 43, maybe he can be snatched up. Maybe do a Bam impression or something.

If we don't make any moves and draft Devin Carter he should probably be starting over Rozier in the backcourt if Herro is still here. Probably won't happen right away but he looks like the ultimate Herro protector in that backcourt defensively.

This kid was born to play for the Miami Heat. I have to imagine he's probably our 1A. No way I see Riley passing up on this kid. I love da Silva but I know there's possibly no way the Heat let Carter go by.
