I say if we're going for a star, I'd rather swing and miss on a bigger/better player even if its a name deemed untouchable or not talked about. De'Aaron Fox fits the mold of the caliber player you clear the deck for. I'd even rate sleepy Ingram over Trae for size alone. Debarge is still living off a playoff run 4 years ago where Ben Simmons was afraid to shoot a layup. If the proverbial whale isn't out there, see how to acquire your own version of some of these impactful role players we see in the playoffs. Worst thing to do aside from standing pat is clearing house for a name just to become a prettier version of the Timmy/Zo Heat - good, but not good enough.
I’ll admit to having buyers remorse on Rozier. I absolutely advocated for the idea of his fit although I wasn’t necessarily happy the terms of the trade.
Regarding Fox, Mia should definitely be back-channeling talks and if there’s any opportunity to get him, they should put the “Dame package” on the table.
Speaking of Dame, anyone who was in favor of acquiring him last off season, I would assume should also be in favor of pursuing Trey this off season.
Ability wise, Trey offers basically the same pros and cons that Dame does only he’s around 10 years younger.
Realistically, I don’t think either guy is attainable though.
