really this class is also extremely lucky that Flagg reclassed and (so far) Traore, Hugo and Demin look legit. otherwise it would've been another disaster.

early (and extremely fluid) top 7 for me right now:

Cooper Flagg
Ace Bailey
Dylan Harper
Nolan Traore
Hugo Gonzalez
Bryson Tucker
Egor Demin

solid front 7, 1AD class gets a lot weaker after this, Asa Newell and Donnie Freeman could potentially be intriguing down the line but it's a wait and see for me.

No Aj Dybantsa? I thought he reclassified for the 25' class? IMO he looked legit at the hoop summit.

me too. Does not look like a lottery pick

His physical appearance makes him look like he's a fast-twitch athlete, however, all of his moves towards the basket begin below the rim. You juxtapose him with Wemby, Chet, Mobley, Jaren Jackson, Bol Bol, Lively, Mitchell Robinson and he pales in comparison.

Yeah, I just don't see it with him. Perhaps he has an unmatched development curve. But from the little I've seen he looks extremely raw, like so raw he's not worth talking about.

looks like a potential all-time draft class just based on the few guys I'm somewhat familiar with. My top 9 in no order

Flagg
Bailey
Pate
Newell
Traore
Harper
Johnson
Yang
Hugo

that's pretty impressive and we know a slew of other kids will establish themselves by the time the college season is a couple months in.

Compare this list to the top 9 from Ringer's early 2024 Mock draft from this time last year

Buzelis
Holland
Walter
Castle
Almansa
Mara
Cadeau
Edwards
Clingan

Add the guys who have already returned like Ivisic, Mgbako, Stojakovic, Foster, Bradshaw, Williams, Cadeau, and Evans plus a dozen more of the guys currently being mocked to go in the 2nd round of the 2024 draft that will return and this looks pretty stellar and reminds me of 2017 and 2018 as far as my excitement level.

no, Dybantsa is in the 2025 HS class with Cam Boozer, so the 2026 draft

most of the guys that returned returned because they suck. Cadeau sucks, Bradshaw sucks, Foster sucks, they weren't great pro prospects in HS and they sucked in college, no reason to think will be great pro prospects all the sudden next year.

the top 7-8 look good but again, talent drop off in the HS class after Flagg, Ace and Harper is dramatic. i like Tucker. Newell and Freeman have potential to be really good but not quite there yet. after that it's a bunch of meh. Maluach sucks. JQ is too small to be a serious big prospect. Tre Johnson and Ian Jackson are typical combo score-first combo guard types we see every year. Same thing with Bethea. Queen and Bidunga both have a similar issue to JQ. I can already tell you VJ Edgecome will have a lot of archetype issues as well. u can go down the list.

and really, half the guys we're projecting to be top 10 guys in 2025 probably won't be. look at your own list. Almansa, Cadeau, Edwards and Mara were all terrible. people were talking about Mara potentially being a top 3 guy this time last year and the dude ended up averaging 5 points a game at UCLA.

solid front 7, 1AD class gets a lot weaker after this, Asa Newell and Donnie Freeman could potentially be intriguing down the line but it's a wait and see for me.

I’d be flabbergasted if Tucker is a top 5 contender. He hasn’t shown anything to indicate he should be considered in the upper echelon or prospects. The rest look good though (noting I haven’t seen Demin).

he needs to better in college for sure, but I like the athletic profile, movement skills and general traits and archetype of Tucker, which is why I am ranking him high early. this early I usually just look like physical profiles and archetypes. i don't make too harsh of a production judgement at the HS level.

Parker Robinson is a really good shooter. Went 4/7 and 4/6 from 3PT in his first couple games in the ANGT, his form is really pure.
Also what's up with the Robinson's, are they all Spurs fans? Who's next, Ginobili Robinson?

I get what you’re saying, but I’d still say it’s too early to have him in that echelon. I’d be surprised if he ever gets there, but respect that you have a higher opinion of him than I do.

Legitimately wondering how many teams are going to go into 2024-2025 and tank. I expect my Wizards to still be bad, Portland too. Detroit will probably be better just with a healthy Cade. Do the Spurs waste another year of Wemby even though they have some cap space this year, plus the 4th and 8th pick? 2025 draft looks to have 5-6 guys at the top.
