Re: Trades and Transactions Ideas Thread
Giannis is the one.
Trade Julius, Mitch, Deuce, and every tradeable pick and swap we have for him.
Jalen
Donte
OG
Giannis
Isaiah (have him start taking threes like Brook, Jonas, Vuc, etc did)
Bench would need to be filled out, but we’d have Josh, maybe Rokas, another draft pick or MLE signing, Alec/Bojan, and Precious/Jericho or whoever else we add.
The Bucks will probably never trade Giannis and Giannis will probably not demand out though. They seem like they’ll go down with the ship together, at least for a few more years, and give the Dame thing another chance. Giannis also already won a championship so he doesnt have an urgency to win it all as much now. Maybe he’s content.
A fan can dream.

I'd say there's a 25% chance he asks out this off-season, at the trade deadline, or next off-season... he implied wanting to always compete for a title and he also seems to really dig NYC... who knows.

You guys realize who OG's a actual agent is? Not just his agency, but his representative?
If opting in is a possibility, I'm sure the Knicks will have the best chance to make it happen. And given how the Brunson signing was considered tampering, I'm not at all surprised we're seeing planted stories about other teams being positioned as fierce competition.

Re: Trades and Transactions Ideas Thread
I can't see Giannis forcing his way out after the organization just got him Dame. Maybe next offseason, but not this one.
The only positive of OG not re-upping would be us getting out of that RJ contract (it was never going to work here with Randle) and avoiding paying OG a max deal. Still fully expect him to sign a big contract with us. We'll have to hold our breath that he can make it to the postseason healthy but if he does, there's no denying the impact he has on our team.
The Sixers signing OG and pairing him with another oft injured player doesn't make sense to me, and while I know it's my NYC bias speaking, but who the heck would leave NYC after experiencing being a Knick in the playoffs and the energy of MSG....for Philly.

I don't think you can tamper with your own players.
I guess the tampering charge could stem from the allegation that we negotiated a deal with him before we traded for him, but I don't think that is disallowed either if you are acquiring a pending FA.
But the Knicks acquired him on the specific day they did for a reason. If they had done it a day or two later, I don't think they would even have the window of opportunity to extend him, because you have to have the player for a certain amount of time in order to have an extension negotiation window before the start of FA.

Im sure there's an understanding that OG will re-sign, but the understanding is most likely just giving NY a chance to match any other contract he'd get. Philly might make their way up to a 4 year max, which is tough, but you gotta just pinch your nose and give it to him. Cant really lose OG for nothing

The issue with Giannis is why would the Bucks trade him to us?
Unless Giannis demands to only come here and the Bucks work with him, then there is little reason to trade him here. He’s under contract for 3-4 more years, we dont have any blue chip young players, and our draft picks would be in the late 1st. We do own one of their protected 1sts, but that’s not enough.
It’s a nice thought, but if they trade Giannis it will probably be to a team with better young players and picks to trade. Like Julius is the same age as Giannis so why would they want him? Mitch and Deuce are good players but nothing too special. Re-tooling with Julius isnt getting them anywhere besides the treadmill. You’d think theyd want to rebuild and go younger.
Running our squad back healthier just seems to be the likely scenario, which is fine considering how great January was. There aren’t many available upgrades to be had besides the bench, and even our bench should be nice with no injuries.

We're not letting OG walk. If he does, then someone really fcked up. No one is out-paying us. We gave up RJ and IQ and we're going to let him walk? That's not happening.

Players steer themselves where they want to go… now more than ever. AD to lakers, Lebron to Miami, CLE, and LAL, Westbrook and PG and Kawhi to LAC… Only reason Lillard didn’t end up in Miami is because Riley cheaped out. We won’t cheap out if Giannis wants to come here.

A big reason why many star players move was either by outright signing in free agency or being on the verge of free agency.
Giannis is signed for 3-4 years after this one. He just extended. There is no threat of him leaving for nothing, like say Donovan Mitchell. The Bucks can just keep him, or trade him to the highest bidder if he really wants out.
So yeah unless Giannis demands to only come here and the Bucks work with him, to their own detriment if there are better offers, then we dont have a chance.
We have a lot of draft picks, but the truth is they will be low picks for the next 5 years, unless we fall off a cliff, especially if we get Giannis. The protected picks we got arent very valuable either.
We could trade picks many years in advance perhaps which teams may bite on if they think we’ll be bad again, but the best assets are great young players high draft picks sooner than later.

In theory, the agent works for OG and not the other way around.

Avdija is playing very well. He can be the main player of the Wizards next season. And his salary is low. They would ask for a star in return.

Washington is a mess right... they'll likely move Kuzma and then try to move Poole but they'll probably have him be a tank commander for another year or two because no one's trading any value for him.
Maybe they reboot things and send out Avdija (if he's unhappy there) and try to build a defensive identity with Mitch + Coulibaly + Kispert and their incoming slew of draft picks (they have #2 and #26 and we could send them #25 along with Mitch for Avdija). They tank next two seasons and maybe they steal a guy like Cooper Flag to start a real rebuild. The tank will remain "on" in places like Washington and Detroit at least one more season.
