Pistons/OKC
Cade for Giddey and 4 first round picks, two of them are good ones.
Why for OKC: they hope that Cade will look better surrounded with shooting.
Why for Det: They realize Cade isn't going to be thier batman, get some shots at finding another one in the draft and avoid maxing a guy who is mid when surrounded by their other peices.

Just no lol I’m sure Pistons would rather pay Cade the max as opposed to paying Giddey similar money to be a worse version.

DET isn’t moving Cade for this and Cade as a ball dominant guy isn’t really what OKC needs albeit talent is talent so they would take it and run.

Cade presents the same problem to OKC that Giddey does. He's a player that is at his best with the ball in his hand and would be the 3rd ball handler for OKC. This only makes sense if Cade is going to be the 6th man and I don't see him being happy about that or OKC paying a max contract to a 6th man that doesn't finish games giving them 4 max contracts in a few years. Cade doesn't upgrade the defense over Giddey and he doesn't bring the shooting to play the role OKC needs out of that position.
It also makes not sense for Detroit unless they are planning on flipping Giddey or letting him walk when he hits RFA. Giddey and Ausar is a terrible pairing. You would have a team with no spacing. If you flipped Giddey to a 3rd team or just took him out and it made OKC's best FRP in 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028 I could see Detroit gambling on the picks.

At least this OKC trade gives OKC something Detroit has that they actually would want.

Re: Pistons/OKC
OKC war chest of picks has a lot of quantity, but not so sure about the quality. What's the best pick of the lot? Clippers '27 unprotected? Miami '26, if in '25 it falls within protections? Not really the kind of picks I'd be tempted to trade a young, rising player for.

FRPs are not the same. If I’m trading Cade, I want 2025 lottery picks.

OKC could end up with multiple lottery picks next year. Philly could be a lottery team, Houston and LAC could also be in the lottery again. LAC winning the lottery, if Harden and PG13 leave, and giving OKC the #1 pick would almost make one feel sorry for the rest of the NBA. Tobias Harris leaving and Embiid missing 40 games again could put the Philly pick in the 7-12 range. I'm not saying Cade to OKC could or should happen, but just pointing out that it is possible the OKC picks end up very valuable in 12 months.

Any unprotected pick COULD end up very valuable with the right injuries, but I would think the likelihood of the '25 Clippers/Sixers picks being anything better than late lottery (11-14) are pretty low.
For your best case scenarios, you have to assume these teams lose players and don't make any moves to improve in the offseason: PG and Harden leave and the Clippers don't replace them; Embiid gets hurt and Tobias leaves and they don't add a 3rd banana to Maxey/Embiid. Given that, I think those things would first have to actually happen first before any GM values those picks as higher end.

Oh, come on. That is a ridiculously unrealistic scenario.
The Clippers losing Harden (to whom?) and PG? missing the playoffs AND winning the lottery?
Philly wouldn't be that bad even if Embiid got injured, Morey is going to put together a good supporting cast for sure.
The Houston '25 swap is top 10 protected, so if they're bad it won't convey, and if they're better than expected it loses value. Likely ends up with OKC moving up 10 spots or so, into the mid to late teens.
This scenario of yours requires a lot of imagination, you could easily make a much more credible case for a bunch of teams getting much better picks than those OKC has, quite easily. In fact it's more likely Chet suffers a season ending injury than any of that happening. Really outlandish stuff.

Pistons aren't moving cade. They are going to max him and try to build around him. You might have an opinion about that, but you aren't going to change the orginzations mind by dangling later round draft picks.

Re: Pistons/OKC
If Langdon wants a total roster tear down, I think that it could be on the table. The real question would be is to pull picks in the lotto back. OKC’s own picks wouldn’t make sense.
I’d prefer personally not to restart the rebuild. I’m not sure the Pistons can find a replacement for Cade.
