One thing about Tatum is that he is very easy to build around. Great defender, high energy rebounder, can size up to play the 4 or 3 interchangeably, doesn’t need to be the primary ball handler but can pass well enough you don’t need a true PG, there’s a lot of good players that fit with him.

The thing about some of the elite stars is they do need unique fits around them. Giannis needs a floor spacing front court guy next to him for space, Luka needs to have the ball constantly, etc. so it makes roster building from an GM perspective more flexible comparatively.

It’s like people on this board don’t like or watch basketball. I feel the NBA has got to the point where the so called “#1” player has to do it all. Last time I checked, it’s a team sport.

We just wouldn’t have had this kind of discourse even 10 years ago. Celtics are 2 games from an NBA finals with Tatum leading them in pretty much every statistical category and people hate on the man.

Also where is this discourse when guys like Ant have bad shooting nights and his team comes through? How about Luka when his role players have lead the way? PJ Washington was the Mavs leading scorer through the first 4 games of the OKC series. Didn’t hear a peep. Nothing but crickets.

Anyway, the fact OP spent that much time writing all that to come up with the most insane take says more about what he’s got going on then anything else.

This is a very long rant about “beliefs” that ignores facts. Tatum led all players in the last series in points, rebounds, assists, steals. He’s averaging 29.5/9/4.5 in the ECF. His FG% and FT% overall are fine, his 3pt% is what is off.

He’s not exactly being led. Has Brown been better for two games? Maybe (I’d say Tatum was better in game 1, but Brown hit the biggest shot).

Regardless Tatum isn’t being carried. That is just plain incorrect.

When the media has an agenda, then everything can be view as negative/positive. Instead of getting carried by teammates, you can call it trusting your teammates. Instead of being a cocky a-hole, you can call it “authentic” and great competitor (Devin Booker is a frontrunner, Butler/Edwards are fierce competitors).

The problem about Tatum is that he looks like a nice guy to those airhead sports media personalities; therefore slandering them are low hanging fruit. It’s the same with Nash, Dirk, Bosh, Gasol, Curry, Durant (OKC days), Giannis, Leonard, Jokic, Tatum…..they mind their businesses, play basketball, don’t call out people nor give good soundbites, so they’re easy to pick on.
