Edwards.

Younger, less injury worry, more team control, more polarizing, more upside.

Which team? OKC by a mile.

Both are stacked young teams. But Presti has set OKC up to be a dynasty like no other. 25yo MVP candidate in SGA. Jalen is legit #2. Chet has huge upside. And a war chest tops in the league.

I like Edwards and would love to see him dominate the next few games but some of you were prisoners of the moment and voted for the wrong guy.

SGA is already a top-5 player in the NBA. Why would any sane person take a guy with the potential to become a top-5 player over a guy who already is one, lol? These poll results are baffling.

To be “much better” than a .270 WS/48 guard he would basically need to be the goat. That’s almost like saying a big “much better” than Jokic.

Edwards is flashier. I don't see any area where he's better than Shai though. Shai is also a far more consistent player.

Edwards is the younger, more explosive and charismatic of the two, and he was the darling of the playoffs with his great play against Phoenix and early in the Denver series. It's no surprise he was picked over Shai in this thread at the height of all that.

Shai is meat and potatoes, no highlight dunks, methodical, no scoring explosions (44 point career high) but will get 30 points rain or shine, and plays both ends of the floor consistently and effectively.

This is like Tim Duncan vs. Amare Stoudemire circa 2005. Shai is the smart and healthy pick, but Edwards is still only 22yo so he has a lot of room to grow.

Ant. You gotta remember there are players who get drafted at 22, any player who had this much expectations at 22 turned out to be an all-timer.

Shai is better but he's closer to a finished product.

SGA offensive game is much more complete right now. We'll have to see what Edwards looks like when he's 25/26 years old.

I was super high on Edwards and thought he is rising to be the best TWolves ever but dude has been disappointing this series.

This isn't even close. SGA all day every day.

That’s a fallacy. We look at players and assume upside… but maybe SGA always ends up being the more complete player? I like the Duncan, rising Amare comparison. They see the flashy, mega talented guy that’s younger and assume he will surpass. That’s often not the case. Remember I’ve watched many people say X player would surpass SGA. For example Cade Cunningham while good isn’t even on a trajectory to do it.

Yet when that made up rumor of the pick for SGA came up, most of the board tried to argue that the Cade Cunningham rookie pick would end up better. Also Ant wi be an all time, SGA if he keeps up this level for 4-5 more years at least could be considered a top 5 all time guard. All timer isn’t saying much when SGA is too.

Hard to compare their playoff runs because Edwards played teams without rim protection in the first two rounds. Watching both of them against the Mavs it is SGA and it's not even close. At times I thought he would play the Mavs bigs off the floor. Automatic from midrange. Making it almost impossible to stay within a drop defense. Also a much better decision maker.

Ant. 3 years younger. In everyday real life that’s pointless but in the NBA where a player has a small window of MVP prime, it matters a bit more

Nurkic is one of the best rim protectors in the league. And Jokic is no slouch.

I suppose Lively is better than Jokic? Because, hey he's younger?

People say this, without acknowledging that SGA is almost certainly likely to last longer at a peak/prime based on how each of them plays the game.

Exactly. Bronny James is better than LeBron James because he’s younger. Glad we understand each other
