Batting .200 and making a few nice plays in the outfield doesnt make you elite by any measure.

No, being on pace for 8 bWAR in one of the greatest defensive seasons in baseball history certainly does though

his War was great last year as well. defensive is too heavily weighted its time we speak on War's failures.

The only stats people should be worried about this year are wins and losses tbh.

If everyone on this team was producing at the level of Varsho, wins and losses wouldn’t be any kind of issue at all

Anyone who believes a left fielder is in the conversation for best defensive players ever…uh, dunno. His defensive value is compared against other left fielders, ie traditionally the weakest or 2nd weakest defenders on the team who take the field. If you took a solid shortstop at and moved him to first base, he would not suddenly become a better fielder, but the replacements he’d be compared to would inflate his defensive value and I suppose some people would consider him among the goat defenders of all time. And, worse, the people who keep pumping here ought to know this.

Varsho is easily the best defensive CF in baseball (and has played about half his games this season at the position). Is this a serious post lol

Over the last 2 seasons, Daulton Varsho leads MLB in DRS as a CF. He has 4 more DRS than 2nd place Kevin Kiermaier despite playing 580 less innings at the position than him.

Just a left fielder though

So to change the subject to something actually important. Is it time to really start thinking about eating Springers contract and trading him for scraps so we can get one of our prospects from AAA some daily playing time? The guy is hitting .155 in may and slugging below 200. I dont think he is an everyday player anymore. I mean, hes being outhit by KK ffs. He has the 4th lowest OPS in all of baseball currently at .548

They’ll end up eating that contract sometime next year Id assume. He should be a bench player until he proves otherwise though.

Lmao the only reason he doesn't play CF is because KK is literally useless if he's not bringing defensive value there. If anything were depressing his individual value for the good of the team

Also if Turner isn't gonna hit Jano should he full time DH so we can at least get Kirk's defense in the lineup

Batting Turner second today was definitely a decision of all time considering Turner is 1 for his last 40 or something. And of course all his at bats today came in crucial RISP situations lmao. Please get this red faced cretin of a manager OFF this team please! Also, sitting BOTH Jansen and Varsho, our two best power hitters, on the same day was another brilliant move.

No other team in baseball would bench their best hitter as much as this one does, it’s simply absurd

Yeah its wild. I get he has health concerns, but those are mostly from unlucky hit by pitches, not everyday wear and tear. He should 100% be in the lineup everyday as either C or DH when not catching.
