rilamann wrote:There was some truth to my post though. Lillard's age is a bit of a concern, but it's worth the risk. Plus the big thing is I thought if we did get Lillard, we would have to give up way more than we actually did.

But yeah, I am more than meh about the Bucks getting Lillard.

Still stand by what I said about Buddy, but at this point I would probably just rather roll with the guys we have.

We needed a shake up while keeping some continuity and that's exact what the Lillard trade for us.

The two things I wanted most this off season were Bud fired and Jrue traded and I got both. And we got a 75th anniversary player in return for Jrue, I knew we could get value for Jrue but I didn't think we'd quite a get a guy the level of Dame. AG wasn't my first choice for HC. But I will give him a chance. I think he has a chance to be a solid NBA head coach.

This is our one chance to make a homer prediction and not actually be a homer.

60 wins and a championship is the most likley outcome if everyone stays healthy and AG isn't a complete and total failure.

rilamann wrote:In all seriousness, I will probably be a lot more positive this season. Like I said in the prediction thread, I feel like a spoiled kid on Christmas going into this season, the two things I wanted most was Bud fired and Jrue traded and I got everything I wanted. So I can't really complain, we got Dame and we've got some young players to be excited about. New coach with a fresh voice.

I predict I will be a lot less crotchety this season...lol. Although you have to admit I was right about the Bucks last season, I had them pegged as frauds in early December. But lets not talk about that.

.....

Complacency was one of the Buck's biggest problems last season and Jrue Holiday was one of the main of culprits. And yes, I said that when Jrue was still a member of the Bucks. It was one of the main reasons why the #2 thing on my off season wish-list was for Jrue to be traded. He not only got traded, but we got Dame in return. That's a pretty massive win for us, obviously. Jrue will never be forgotten, he helped us win a title. But it was time for a change, for both parties.

He builds his reputation on Tuesday nights in January. He's not a high BBIQ guy who you can trust to show up in significant games.

rilamann wrote:The national media knows that the Celtics gave up 2 key players for Holiday, right?

The way they make it sound, you'd think they just added Jrue in free agency.

So the Bucks now have two 75th anniversary players, the Celtics gave up 2 key pieces for Holiday and basically traded away every player sans 70 year old Horford that made them a tough match-up for the Bucks. And that the makes the Celtics now the favorites in the east?

rilamann wrote:Overall, the last 5 years has been a fun ride as Bucks fans and now with Lillard on board, the best might be yet to come.

I was a bit onery last season I admit. But to be fair, someone is going to read my posts on here from the 2022'23 season 30 years from now while knowing the final of that season and be like, How did that rilamann guy know that was going to happen.

:D

Now that Bud is gone and Lillard is a member of the Bucks, I highly doubt I will be using the term ''frauds'' to describe this year's version of the Bucks.

I think part of the Buck's problem last season was things got a bit stale and also they got a bit too comfortable and a bit complacent.

Lillard is starving for a championship, so I don't think complacency will be an issue anymore. Lillard's hunger for a title I think will fuel Giannis and give him kind of a refreshed drive and motivation.

On the court is huge, but I think the Bucks also needed this type of trade for those reasons as well.

Someone here gave me a great advice and I followed it ... don't get emotionally involved too much on the team, which I did at the time, like way way too much, like Bucks was my child crying and I had to make it happy again. If anyone is doing the same, just detach a bit. Love you all
