Re: PelicAllen- with a new twist
The second deal for Cleveland is not happening, Kuzma does not solve any of their problems. The first deal is interesting though, would NO rather have Allen or Stewart+, with the best wing headed to Cleveland?
Well at least we're not Detroit!

I think Ingram's willingness to extend at a reasonable number is the key to him being perceived as a real trade asset. You can work with him taking 20-25% of the cap, but if he wants 30-35% that becomes problematic.
Great point. You would think after the season he just had and his inefficient play style - that his agent would get feedback on the market and be open to less than max extension talks. That changes everything, really. Opens up his trade market significantly and even let's Pelicans consider extending him and hoping he has a much better season with increased 3 point attempts.
He might be worth 40M a year as a free agent since you don't have to give up anything (or maybe you have to shed a neutral contract to clear space for him). He's not a 40M player, but bad teams like the Raptors are paying 35M to Bruce Brown and Boucher, the Pistons aren't paying anybody, Utah can afford that if they can get off Collins' deal. And it only takes one.

He's got one more year under contract so he'll at least have rental value. I don’t think people yet get the fact that $40M next season will be 25% of the cap. That's the *reasonable* number. If he wants closer to $50M per, that's when it gets hard to justify.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Yeah, there's always a bit of a lag before people here get used to cap spikes.
In any case, I think if you're New Orleans and you've got holes at the 1 and 5, you probably gotta move Ingram and just be aggressive in terms of deciding that a draft pick or more likely a young guy in the league is ready to become a starter there, whether it's Okongwu or Duren at the 5 if they're gettable, or a Simons or Sexton type (maybe a 3 way deal) at the 1.

I'd rather keep him.
