Re: WCF Game 3: Minnesota at Dallas, 7 p.m.
It funny how people put on the table keyonte and Kessler. Keyonte is a bad shooter and not a good Pg right now. He got potential but he may be good ..or not. Kessler have take a step back this year. He is soft and will at best be a Rudy low version. He can’t shoot same Rudy. We could have keep them and keep being not good enough for 4 or 5 years….. KAT would probably be gone at that time and ANT probably request a trade. Future look good we just have to optimize Rudy and get another shooter.

How about we look at it this way: Gobert = Kessler + George + 2025 1st. Now we are short one pick in 2027. The 2029 is top 5 protected. You can complain if LBJ wants to play at MIN but we don't have picks to trade for him. However, it's not going to deplete our roster with that one #1 for 2027. We need to draft better. So far Moore, Minott, and Miller are all disappointments.
If we reversed the trade, I don't think we're a top four seed this year and I don't think we get out of the first round again. So sure, our future outlook isn't as scary in terms of asset volume, but it also likely creates uncertainty with Ant's longterm future.

Just because something is better than absolute trash doesn't mean it's good. Trading most of your resources to be good and win two playoff series and then be mediocre for the next few years isn't the prize you think it is, we're just so used to being terrible that anything other than terrible is amazing. Objectively it's not actually good.
I would say one of the last 4 teams standing is objectively good. And it hasn’t been determined that this is the peak, and it also hasn’t been determined that the future will be a disaster.

We are in the WCF…how many people even on this board had predicted that? And people are saying we aren’t good? lol.

LOL yeah I mean it's 3 picks, and then one more, and then another later, and a few pick swaps. But it's really 3!
There is no few pick swaps. The only swap is in 2026 which Jazz can pick swap with Wolves or Cavs. It's highly unlikely that the swap is with Wolves unless we trade Towns for a bunch of picks and Ant gets hurt. If we stick to the roadmap which had gotten us this far, I can't see those pick would worth much.
If we wanted Gobert, it's going to cost something. Mitchell wasn't going to fit with Ant as there are rumors Cavs will trade Garland if Mitchell signs. Certainly one can argue we should never get Gobert or should even trade Towns/DLo with Ant as the starting piece but I am looking forward to another great run next year and not just hopping for something in 2027 when Ant is in his prime.

I love Leonard Miller and I think he has a bright future, but am not convinced Minott will be anything special and think Moore should be gone already as he is a waste of cap and roster space. There is no uncertainty of Ant's future whether Gobert is here or not. Ant said he's not leaving unless he's traded. I see the Gobert trade as a bad one as we gave up way too many assets for a guy with a massive contract, is on the wrong side of 30, has cement hands and limited range who never made it past the second round in the playoffs before. I would have preferred to use the draft assets and cap space differently. Maybe, we wouldn't be top 4 this year, (but we might have been) but frankly I could care less if ultimately we have more success later.

I seen the argument that no player who only plays 1/2 the game (just D or just O) deserves a max contract and one can said Gobert fits that. The team we had two years ago was really lacking on defense. The team that we have today really lacks offense. I think we need another shot creator but could be schemes. The question is how do we improve our offense without taking a step back on D? Maybe trading Towns or JMcD or Gobert is the answer. I still think this group can do better. Maybe Miller will replace Towns or JMcD in the near future?

Ant and Jaden are untouchable. Both are two way stars, who are young, improving and like playing with one another. I would really like to add Trey Murphy. He is a two way player, but probably more offensive than defense and he's one of the best outside shooters in game and still pretty young. I wouldn't mind trading KAT for Murphy and filler which might be a resigned Valanciunas. Ant, Jaden, Murphy could make a heckuva core. If Pelicans preferred Rudy, I would do Rudy for Trey Murphy and Valanciunas and try to get DeJounte Murray for KAT. If so, we'd have a young coreTimberKat wrote:KATKlownFeet wrote:Klomp wrote:If we reversed the trade, I don't think we're a top four seed this year and I don't think we get out of the first round again. If we decide to shake things up this offseason, both Murray and Murphy are on my shortlist of acceptable but realistic targets.

But not at the expense of Towns and Gobert. Naz can't play starting center. We will give up 130 pts per game
