He is currently being asked to play too many minutes and to cover too much ground on defense ….. and yet he is eating those minutes and showing the same fire and leadership he always has even when he is getting lit up on the perimeter.
If the Celtics close out the series against Indiana quickly which looks likely at the moment, they could have like a week off before the finals. In the finals, games are every three days (except between game 3 and 4) instead of every other day so Boston is about to get Porzingis back AND Horford with the most rest he's had in months.
The finals schedule is set regardless of the conference finals outcome. If Boston finishes the ECF in 4 games then they'd have 10 days off before Game 1 of the NBA Finals on June 6th. Remove 2 days of rest for each additional game they have to play in the ECF.
They will likely be very well rested for the NBA finals.
For those wondering Game 1 of the NBA finals will be 38 days after KP's injury.
