During the short, rare stretches of his career in which he actually expends energy on defense, it may be Kyrie.

Which team(s) do you think have one of those?

Why arent you asking Kyrie vs Tatum instead? It's insulting comparing him to Brown. Kyrie is better than both.

Mav's will have the best two players in the series.

No, it's not. Kyries leadership transformed this Mavs team. His knowledge and control over the flow of the game, ability to read the situation and make big plays at the perfect time make him more valuable than Tatum. Tatum will get you better counting stats during the course of the game, but as far as taking all the right actions both on and off the court to create a championship level team, Kyrie is levels ahead. Kyrie right now is the ultimate team player.

So far we have Gafford as a top 5 C
Kyrie better than Tatum

Mavs should sweep the finals with ease.

I can’t wait for what tomorrow brings. Maybe Luka is a top 5 defender??

Wtf are you talking about Kyries off court actions are levels ahead of Tatum, what does that even mean?
When you discount stats and have your focus on off court actions you leave no room for debate. When 1 player is the leader of the team that had the best record in the NBA and a 12-2 record this postseason and suggest that he is levels behind a player that was 2nd best on his own team, finished 14 games behind and 11-4 this postseason you need to provide more for your argument.

I guess in your world leadership and mentoring of the younger guys, including Luka, mean nothing. I'd rather have Kyrie have less individual stats, but left 7 other guys up.

A quick note that Kyrie has lost his last 10 games vs the Celtics. He’s had Luka and KD has his teammates during that span of games.

Check his previous posts. You're arguing with a guy who has insane amount of wild takes. Just ignore him :P

If Mavs make it to the finals, that finals thread is going to be insanely toxic anyway.

Off the court makes all the difference. Kyries leadership and mentorship of young guys has added at least 10-5-5 with better defense and decision making across the rest of the players on the team. Does that not make up for the raw stat difference? I'd rather the guy that elevates everyone else into championship contention.

It won't really matter because the Celtics are unfathomably deep, probably the deepest team since the 2016 warriors, with no one being better or really close to Steph as a player, but them having one top 10 player, another top 20-25 guy and then three other top 30-40 guys and then solid backups.

But Kyrie is better than Jaylen. Better scorer, better playmaker, better shooter — he was always better. Jaylen hasn't been the focal point of defenses as a No. 1 option the way Kyrie has before, but Kyrie has maintained good offenses and positive net rating without other all-stars on the floor for years, and his skillset is extremely portable. Jaylen is great though.
