Yeah it feels like the right time. If he panned out as a shot in the arm and gave Brunson relief, it'd be like found money. Then you can make a move for an NBA player at another position, a wing.

And if Shake returns we could have the Milton/Melton confusion the Sixers had for a while

I have always had a ton of respect for Melton's game. He would be a very good addition.

It will be tough to not pay taxes next season. OG would have to opt in.

We do not have enough salary fillers to trade for a superstar unless he is cheap or we trade Randle. Bojan + MItch barely hits 33M. If we include some end-of-bench players we barely reach 40M. Probably, we need the same amount of salary going in going out.

Besides, Randle brings fitting issues. If we get a second scorer like Donovan, the team does not need Randle as our third scorer. We need defense to balance the team.

Technically... if we bundle Mitch, Bogs, McBride, Diakete, and maybe one more bench guy like Sims, we should be able to use that (and picks) to trade for a guy like PG13 or Butler... theoretically...

I do not think so. PG and Butler salary is 48M. These 5 guys totalizes 42M

I think around the league people are looking at Mitch like they look at Zion. He has had so many injuries I doubt he'll hold a whole lot of value for other teams at this point. Gotta first play a couple relatively healthy seasons. His trade value must be shot right now.

I'd take some Oubre, Crowder, maybe Jaxson Hayes.

Oubre and Crowder probably too expensive, or the backup PG $$$ spent on whoever probably eat up whatever MLE the Knicks will have, if they'll have it.

Also Morris. Again, probably too expensive.

Knicks have access to the MLE if they don't ink I-Hart and OG at the start of free agency. Once they're inked, the MLE becomes unavailable.

I don't see the Knicks using their full MLE, anyway. Depending on OG's numbers (you can kind of guess I-Hart's numbers), they'll be very close to the 2nd apron and my understanding is that they want to avoid that as much as possible. Honestly and unfortunately, Bojan might be a cost cutting contract if they're not willing to wait for the until next season for cap relief.
