He withdrew from the draft today but worked out for the Clippers back on the 10th.

I know they’ll work out a lot we won’t hear about but so far it’s all guards.

Common as dirt. Anyone 6'7" and up who can shoot a lick will be swept up by #46. That's how Coffey got so many minutes. Our G-Leaguers:

NAME Height/3-pt%

Primo 6'4" 36.9%
Kobe 6'7" 33.3%
JordanM 6'5" 30.8%
Diabate 6'9" 20%
BBJ 6'6" 26.9% in limited minutes with the big club, 33.3% in G-League 2022-23

Clippers might just back up the truck on all these "kids" [Brown and Miller will be 25] and bring in some minimum-wage veterans who won't kill us out there. If we run it back with the Over the Hill Gang, we gotta cut their minutes to 30ish rather than this year's 34.

BBJ and Kobe are actually on the roster and are not G Leaguers.

Thanks for the correction. True. I used BBJ's 26.9% with the big club. Then his G-League stats from 2022-3 because he was injured most of this year and only played ONE G-League game. 1-for-9 from 3pt.

I'm trying to be fair. I DON'T cheat the stats. He CAN put the ball in the hole but can't 3 or D.

Kobe was **** from 3 in G-League [33.3%] and **** with the big club [29%] too. Neither can shoot at an NBA level or even the G-League one. They make Landry Shamet look like Steph Curry. Neither can playmake or rebound.

What I'm saying is I think the Clippers should move on and none of them will be on our 15-man roster or anyone else's next year. Flush all 5 and start over with KJ Martin or a dozen others with serious NBA experience and not G-Leaguer hangers-on.

Oh they'll be on the roster next year and much improved. After all the money that's going to PG and Harden these will be the guys filling out the roster. Might even have to move Norm and his $20 million a season salary. Sorry but "The Kids Stay In The Picture". Deal with it!

Dunno what you mean by "The Picture." I define it as NBA MINUTES PLAYED. G-League is sht. They're too short and none of them can shoot the 3.

Kobe 6'7" 33.3%

I say dump them. Floor is yours.

None of these guys are the likely pick but I do like keeping track of who they work out or plan to.

Rookie year 3PT% is one of the bottom concerns for me when looking at a player as long as its not like 15% on a lot of attempts, but if you're getting to the high 20's, have good form and hit FT's then there is a ton of room for growth.

Depending on age, not a stat I'm even looking at until 2nd or 3rd year, tons of guys have had low rookie 3PT%. Not everyone else adjusts as quickly to the range and how quickly defenders close out.

Then if the attempts are low we don't even have enough data. Brown for example took 48 3PA, better shooters than him have shot terrible through more than 48 attempts.

In the G-League, only 13 3PA were from the corners.

https://stats.gleague.nba.com/player/1641738/shooting/

He wad 6/13 from the corner, but sample size too small. It's really just a "we'll see" situation.

None of these guys I’ve been posting are on the mock drafts or close to it yet.

To be fair, the majority of the 2nd round is guys who have played all four years of college and then some. Maybe we can get a kid that drastically slips and is under 20 years of age like BBJ. That's rare tho

Maybe we can pick up this guy

https://www.si.com/high-school/2019/01/22/sidney-gilstrap-portley-dallas-high-school-basketball-posed-as-teen-hillcrest

In all seriousness, I do agree with your point. Guys in the 2nd round often left school too early (like BBJ) or had to stick around longer to really develop (some of which could genuinely be late bloomers.)
