In many ways I kind of think it doesn't matter much how the roster is reshaped around Embiid and Maxey. It will have more overall talent than this past year and likely more playoff sturdy because Tobias is gone. But ultimately everything hinges on Embiid's health and whether Maxey is ready to ascend again to a type of player that can still be "Maxey" against a playoff team with a defensive toolkit to specifically limit him. Those two factors can overcome a lackluster offseason and the same two factors if they don't swing in our favor will sink us no matter what rabbit Morey pulls out of his hat.

Maybe a fatalistic point of view but I don't think roster moves matter much.

We need to secure 4-6 guys that can score double digit points in the playoffs, first and foremost. Then once you have enough scoring depth in place, you can start rounding out the roster with connective glue pieces like Batum.

IMO, Batum is going to stick to his plan and retire unless he is wowed by a deal. Vet min won't cut it. Therefore unless the Sixers strike out on everything and just stay over the cap and therefore DGAF about blowing some cash on a one year deal, I don't see Batum back.

This is my gut feeling as well. I wouldn't want to pay him more than the minimum because the rest of our assets need to go towards players 3-5 or 6 in our rotation.

Maybe his relationship with Joel will win out and he'll come back for the min, but I'm not holding my breath.

We traded a 23rd pick in a stronger draft for Melton. Smart went for two 1sts, Jrue two 1sts, Derrick White a 1st and pick swap. Probably could keep the 2nds since Reed was included but a late 1st is kind of the going rate for All Defense guard.

Monk is unrestricted so KANGZ have no right to match. Plus they can only offer him ~$18m in year one due to lack of Bird Rights. So if we want him we can get him.

I’m shooting to offer Toppin 4-year, $80-90 mil in this scenario. Indiana has too much on their hands to match that.

And, as previously stated, both Bridges and Monk are UFAs so their respective teams can’t “match” in the sense I believe you’re alluding to.

Reports that mediocre Hartenstein could get a 100 million contract. I don't think a lot of people are prepared for just how much role player types are going to get paid in a very meh free agent class. People can prefer to go the route of signing multiple role players instead of a star, but if you go that route you're going to be paying role players more than twice what they're probably worth. I don't think that's a recipe for success.

Obi Toppin is the one role player I'm hoping we overpay for. He has all of the characteristics you'd want in a 4 on this team and in this basketball era: rebounds, steals, blocks, 3PA rate, youth, athleticism/lob threat.

Ingram + Toppin is the dream offseason, regardless of who the 5th starter is.

No way the Pacers can keep both Toppin and Jalen Smith once they give Siakam 5/$250m. We should be in on both of them as potential starting PFs.

He signed his qualifying offer so that does make him FA but Charlotte still has his bird right I believe.

Kings for sure can’t afford Monk. Forgot they don’t have his bird rights.

He’s the one guy who would pair really well next to Ingram. Any guy who attempts a through the legs dunk in a close playoff game is an absolute dawg and I want them on my team lmao
