I'm certainly not going to complain if we take Ware. If he hits, he's Chris Bosh. Without knowing him or what makes him tick, it seems like a worthy gamble.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Thread
Has anyone looked at the historical trade value of #33 when it comes to moving up in a draft? If the Bucks wanted to go up from #23, what does #33 get them?

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Thread
I don’t think there’s 1 comparison you can make between Kel’el Ware, Thomas Bryant and Noah Vonleh besides they all went to Indiana. Bryant was picked in the 40s and Vonlehs ceiling was always gonna be what Bobby Portis has turned into and Vonlehs career was basically a very poor man’s Bobby Portis. Like Emunney said, Ware has a Chris Bosh type ceiling, his talent is undeniable. I’m 100% sure being around Giannis and Dame will change your idea about what it takes to succeed long term and not just be another flash in the pan.
RIP Kobe Forever. GOAT 8-24. Long Live Giannis

Bucks are picking at #23 and #33. Michael Jordan wore #23 and Larry Bird wore #33, so yeah...I think we're going to be JUST fine.

Ooof, pretty lofty. I'd settle for somewhere in between Myles Turner and the not potato-brain version of Hassan Whiteside.

I'd be thrilled with that too, but he doesn't remind of either of those guys.

I thought this was a pretty good read.
https://www.noceilingsnba.com/p/lessons-and-trends-from-draft-night
Fitting that we hold the 23rd pick:
Trading in the middle of the draft is a coin flip
After the 24th pick, trading in the draft offers less certainty for teams on both sides of the negotiating table. The hit rate (i.e. ending up with the best player in the trade) for teams who traded up or in drops from 88.9% in the Top 24 to 47.3% between the 25th and 42nd selections.
In 2019 the Sixers traded 24 and 33 to move up to 20, so the answer to the original question is probably around the 16-18 range as a best case scenario. I could see all of Orlando, New Orleans, and Philly shopping those picks and moving down to preserve cap space.

Great, exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

Using this: https://www.nbamockdraftdatabase.com/trade-value-chart-2023?rd=1
23 + 33 = 17

Thanks. Seems like that gets you into the range for a lot of guys I see discussed around here like Da Silva, Ware, and Missi.

And for extra luck we can give them those jersey numbers..RogerMurdock wrote:Bucks are picking at #23 and #33. Michael Jordan wore #23 and Larry Bird wore #33, so yeah...I think we're going to be JUST fine.

One thing about ware that alleviates some of the concerns for me is that you are picking him to be a complimentary player. Keep things simple for him at first and see if the Giannis work ethic can rub off on him.

I'm not even remotely sure of what to make of Flowers. He's obviously got the physical tools, but he's so insanely raw. You're basically just drafting an athlete and hoping he develops any sort of basketball skill. I'd be terrified of drafting him any higher than the mid-2nd round.

Giving a guy with a reputation for being lazy millions of dollars does not seem to be a good bet.

Interesting that the ESPN mock has Risacher at #1 and says is unlikely to fall out of the top two. Ringer has him #12 overall.

Ringer has him going 7 to Portland, no? At any rate, there's no way I'd take him #1.
