Ingram + Toppin is the dream offseason, regardless of who the 5th starter is.

I do not trust Toppin shooting. Low volume and huge outlier on percentage this past year. He is also Tobias-esque on defense. Even though the lob threat would play nice with Maxey, don't like him with Jo. Pass.

If you want a guy of that ilk who is actually a good help defender and good rebounder and would fit with Jo: John Collins.

No way the Pacers can keep both Toppin and Jalen Smith once they give Siakam 5/$250m. We should be in on both of them as potential starting PFs.

For sure. Was bummed we didn't get to see much Jalen in the playoffs. Historically speaking, Obi has been the better playoff performer. Jalen is a couple of years younger and unrestricted, so I would pursue him if we missed out on Obi.

Meh, I think the shooting spike is something to monitor but I don't think it's a dealbreaker. The previous season he attempted 8 3's per 36 minutes and shot 34.4%. If he matches his career averages (35.1% on ~6 attempts per 36) then I think his other attributes will shine next to Embiid.

I don't mind Collins, but his attitude and contract are worse. Plus Ainge will probably want picks back for him.

Obi would be a terrible fit here. Bad defender, average at best rebounder, and works best in a high tempo offense. His strengths would be wasted in our plodding Embiid-centric offense & his weaknesses would drive us all insane.

I’m also suspicious of guys who have career years next to an elite passer like Halliburton.

On the other board they were talking about Utah throwing in 29 just to dump Collins into cap space. Agreed he could be a problem, but in the past if you give him touches he stays focused. As far as the contract: Collins @ 25 > Obi @ 20. JMO.

I’d be open to it. Biggest issue would be Collins’s 3PA rate (3.5 per 36 vs 5.8 for Obi). He’s a superior rebounder and shot blocker though with same lob threat capabilities.

Of note, if we signed Obi for, ie, 4-years and $80 mil his first year would be somewhere under $20 mil.

Jalen Smith or John Collins would be great fits, imo. Would love to have either one of them. Jalen would be cheaper and younger. While Collins has more experience and might bring back an asset.

That’s my bet of a starting 5 for 2024-25

May 8th.

Staying put with my prediction.

John Collins would be so perfect as this team’s PF that it will of course never happen.

I'd take Obi over Collins based on cost (both salary and acquisition). Not particularly enamored with either.

If we could get a 1st with Collins, I'd do that in a heartbeat. Hard to picture that d-bag Ainge ever 'giving' anything to the Sixers.

The Bronny James sweepstakes? What a crock of $hit. There is no "sweepstakes", and any GM that wastes a draft pick on him should be fired immediately. I will seriously lose it if we take him at 16. He is NOT an NBA player and just because it gives us a chance to add a 40 year LeBron James isn't worth selling out for.

I just have to believe that this is all a smokescreen and that Morey isn't a big enough jackass to bend over and bring James and his G-League son in here. On the other hand, it would complete my desertion of all the pro sports.

How funny would it be if Bronny just went undrafted

I have a hard time believing the desired end game here is anything but LeBron and son on the Lakers.

If the Sixers were actually a place the James' were considering, Bronny would've accepted his workout.

Lakers are also at #17 so maybe this is trying to get them to trade up.

Wild to even talk about him going that high.
