"Teams that strive to take away 3s and live with basket attacks, like Indiana, are the only ones that have a chance against the Celtics. Sure, the Pacers gave up points, but they also beat Boston twice in the regular season and had them dead to rights in Game 1 of the conference finals before fate intervened … with a late 3-pointer.

Dallas, in contrast, was a middle-of-the-pack team in preventing opponent 3s and has played that way again in the playoffs. The Mavs’ big conundrum is figuring out how to contort a defensive strategy that was close to optimal for playing the Clippers, Thunder and Wolves and adapt it to playing a very different Boston team. Recent events don’t augur well on that front; when the Mavs marched into Boston with all their new trade pieces in March, they lost 138-110, with Boston shooting 21 of 43 on 3s."

I complain a lot about Cs "chucking threes" but when teams have limited our 3-ball attempts, they've had more success. I guess it just boils down to the type of threes we're taking and at what spots (both spots on the floor and time/situation).

This is also how the Heat beat the Cs last postseason. You even heard Spo say it in the broadcast. Take away Cs' threes.

Pretty interested to learn more about Dallas’ recent defensive surge. I’m a little suspicious that their innovations are simply Jason Kidd recreating early teens defenses from when he played lol.

The cutoff date everyone keeps referring to is March 8, when Kidd switched up their starting five. They went 15-4 rest of the way. Mavs only played 3 top 10 teams in that span (went 1-2) and 4 top 10 offenses (went 2-2).

OKC offense is legit but their style of play is more suited for the regular season. They lack another creator and are hampered by having non-shooters on the floor. Clippers were without playoff Kawhi. Wolves are offensively-challenged for various reasons.

Cs, who are #2 in offense in regular season and playoffs, haven't even shot the 3-ball well yet, particularly Sam, Al, and JT plus we didn't have KP for most of the playoff run.

Mentioned it earlier... since we love to mismatch-hunt and iso, we can't have lazy and sloppy entry passes. Mavs expect those passes. Don't force them if they're not there. Have a fallback action ready when they're hugging on our players. Another reason why I hate wasting 2/3 of shot clock just to set up the mismatch we want. One tip/deflection and possession goes to ****.

The Heat won last season's ECF thanks to an all-time disparity in shooting luck giving them an average of like 20 free points per game. ML Carr could've been coaching that team and they would've won.

What I’m curious about is more the details of the scheme - from what I can tell it’s sag off the worst shooters to keep their length protecting the rim and then load up on the ball at the perimeter.

Ie kind of like how teams just all played defense before the last five years. But I’m not fully informed on it yet to put it lightly.

So Celtics weren't favored in 2022? All this time, people convinced me we should've won against the Dubs.

When Tatum and brown thoroughly outplay Luka and Kyrie, I don’t wanna hear Jack anymore. Posters calling Tatum James worthy, saying he’s just lucky. Well if that’s the case, Luka better outplay tatum

Bird would have won 4 rings with that team, in this weak ass era of basketball.

The expectations for Tatum are bron level. Got folks expecting him to have 3 rings by now like that’s ever happened

The Celtics probably should of won that series. Tatum definitely disappeared and Brown catching bull fouls to open game 2 as he was going off really swung that series.

My takeaways are:

KP can walk normally, and that's been true long enough for him to reestablish his practice shooting rhythm.

Running and jumping remain unconfirmed.

It was such a weird series for Tatum. Shot 37% from the field despite shooting 45.5% from the three. Also only 65% from the line.

Am a bit worried that KP's calf injury may have affected his muscle mass and height.

By the time reporters get in, practice is basically over. If he's running you won't see it.

We have no "worst shooters". They can suck into the paint all they want.
