on the larger hand, I only care about the team, and the banners that the team has -- those banners make me very happy.

on the other hand, my goodness is Tatum is on a trajectory to put himself in some **** company.

(how about the 7 rings club? Tom Brady was "boring" and hated as well)

next round is a referendum on Tatum vs. Luka that I've, personally, been looking forward to

The ideal scenario for me going into this season was JB ECF MVP to right last season ECF, a Title and Tatum Finals MVP to shut up his haters.

Tatum needs to show up in the finals. He didnt in 2022 and we lost to the warriors. Needs to shoot it well.

I agree, like I'd guess almost all of us do.

But let's explore this a bit: what *did* Tatum average in the 22 Finals?

22/7/7 on 37/46/66. 23 TOs in 6 games.

Normalize his %s a bit and he's probably around 25ppg. I'd 'take' that.
I'd also take the 7/7, but I want more rebounds, and I want fewer turnovers.

I *want* him to do what he just did in the ECF: 30/10/6, on 46/31/79, with 13 TO in 4 games. I expect Dallas' defense to be better, but if KP can come back and really play, maybe Jayson sees a little less pressure out there? We'll see.

The main thing isn't statistical though, right? What we remember is an at-times timid player, clearly a bit overwhelmed by the stage. I think we're less likely to see that now. Looking forward to finding out! He doesn't have to carry the team, just play well -- and if he does, the #s and accolades will come.
