It's a win/win for me. If the Mavs win, the Nets franchise will never recover from the shame, if the Celtics win, Kyrie loses, and the Nets will never recover from the shame that they gifted Tatum and Brown to Boston.

I hope everything bad happens to both teams

That trade was so awful, you must've been livid back then seeing your Browns and Tatums holding the Celtics hat with the stupid leprechaun on consecutove draft nights. Who was your favorite NJ Net btw? I liked the industrial, overlooked vibe of the old Nets with the sky blue jerseys and then the 3D logo. J-Kidd was problematic off the court but as a basketball player he was the chit. I thought Rodney Rodgers was cool too

Not that anyone asked me but Kenny Anderson was a fun player.

I liked Kenny but things went sour once Chuck Daly left. That was my first hand introduction to realizing that there are guys who play NBA ball who just don't care.

Dude could hoop though. Nasty handles. I used to try to practice his moves but I was destined to be an undersized 2 guard

He as a Net was a lil before my time but I remember him on the damn Celtics... Was a fan of Paul Pierce though, beford he'd torture us. The Tony Delk era

I always liked Pierce's game when I was kid. I always liked guys who were crafty scorers who had to use their smarts to score instead of freak athleticism. Pierce and Brandon Roy were two of my favorites to watch

Oh for sure. Seeing Tatum and Brown drafted and becoming All NBA talents was just more fuel to the fire.

I would say my favorite NJ Net of all time was Kidd. He brought a level of play that I had never seen back then, every night back in those first two seasons was high level, fast paced hoops predicated on good team defense and he was the head of that snake. He is one of the best players I've ever seen play live, he could impose his will on a game and not score a point.

However, he is a complete dirtbag off the court and his drama with his ex wife Joumana nearly got Jason Collins outed back in the mid 00s before he was ready to come out. Collins wasn't a great player by any means but he was a really good dude on and off the floor in the community back then, so when I finally put two and two together after the fact, along with Kidd being an abuser, I could never look at him the same way. I know he isn't responsible for what his wife tried to do but I still put the onus on him for letting things get that far. Everyone thought Richard Jefferson was the "gay Net" though so luckily nothing happened :-?

Funny enough, all my favorite Nets are all from the NJ era. Vince, Drazen, Marbury, Sam Cassell, Chris Gatling, K-Mart (even though he's an ass hole), and I was always a Kerry Kittles guy from his Villanova days. Rodney Rodgers was an OG stretch 4 type. It broke my heart when he ended up paralyzed.

I didn't know Rodney was paralyzed, I'm really sad to hear this. He was a talented player.

The three most intelligent basketball players I've seen play basketball are Kidd, Bron and Jokic. Bird and Magic were before my time. MJ was on a different plane altogether. But Kidd was a basketball genius. He was also a monster for his position physically.

Mark Cuban tank job from last year and Kyrie being Kyrie has me 100% against them.
I actually had a nightmare last night that it was Kyrie vs Lebron in the finals meaning lose lose... At least it's not that... this year.

Celtics can have the ring, I still like KP.

Kyries nonsense where he thinks he has the right to not be booed or reminded of his flat earth take is enough for me to always hope he loses.

I don't think so honestly. Kyrie was done with an ankle injury, Harden's hamstring was just as bad as OG's was when he tried to play in game 7. I think the Hawks could have beat them. The Suns would have routed them.

Yeah he had a dirt bike accident. Paralyzed from the shoulders downward.
.
Kidd was a savant, he just knew how to make reads in nearly any situation. He wasn't a great 1 v 1 defender but his team defense was elite.

Yeah, kd probably wasn't putting up those ridiculous stats that giannis did in the finals. But he was on one those playoffs.

As a Nets hater I'm glad he doesn't know how to wear properly fitting kicks.

Daly was a hell of a coach. Seems like just about anyone would run through walls for him.

I don't know that he didn't care - he had too much craft for that - but something was off. I looked into it a bit and it came out later that he had some trauma as a kid. He and Coleman likely didn't do each other any favors either.

Its crazy saying it out loud but Celtics might be the lesser evil. I mean Dallas have Luka who is my third favorite player in the league but everything else about this org stinks. Other than some KP stuff from the past I actually struggle to find anything unlikeable about Boston if you think about it deeply.

Kenny is a child SA survivor, yes. That story is really infuriating man. Two adults preyed on him, one of whom was his coach. :nonono:

To be clear, it wasn't all on him as to why things went bad. That environment turned toxic once Chuck left. DC did not give a f*ck at all, Chris Morris was an ass hole, Benoit Benjamin, etc. It was honestly a perfect storm, Drazen died, Daly left and things just went to hell from '94 onward. Funny enough, my last memory of those days was when the Knicks crushed the Nets in the first round. as the only NJ Net fan in my middle school, you can imagine how much sh*t I got over that.

That year after Chuck left was also when Chris Childs joined the team, he played pretty decent. I've been meaning to ask everyone, what was your opinion on him? He was a tough dude man. I think he had a drinking problem though.

Now that I think about it, do you remember when Chris got robbed at gunpoint outside of Puffy's restaurant back in like '01????

I don't think that was some random incident now :o
