Re: Trades and Transactions Ideas Thread
Giannis is the type of superstar trade that would cost so much that you have to essentially start building a team from scratch next to Brunson and Giannis. Also Giannis does not strike you as the player forcing his way out.
Milwaukee would be at least asking for like IHart, DD, Deuce, OG, Randle + 4-5 picks.
Keep in mind he extended his contract so he has not much leverage and the Bucks are going to try to milk everything out of the Lillard-Middleton-Giannis combo. The earliest I can see him become available is in 2 years.

Agreed. Plus he had a meniscectomy on his knee from wear and tear. Plus, he's also on the wrong side of 30 now. Plus, we're just in the middle of developing continuity and a team identity. Now people want to tear it apart? Please.
Let's just stay on the path.

A few reasons:
Mitch is a great lob threat who is mostly wasted here. We don't really have any great lob throwers... Ja is great at throwing lobs. Brunson is much more methodical in how he operates in pick and roll. Hartenstein fits that better because he's a better screen setter and better in the short roll than Mitch.
JJJ is the ideal 4 man next to Mitch and Mitch is the ideal 5 next to JJJ. Grizzlies found a lot of success because Adams could rebound the hell out of the ball and take on the bigger post threats while JJJ could roam on defense and stretch the floor and playmake on offense. Also when teams go small Mitch can either punish them on the glass or you simply play JJJ at the 5 to combat it.
Quite frankly with the way this draft is set up the 9th pick is probably valued more like the 12-15th pick in most drafts. That seems like what Mitch's value would be and Memphis needs veteran help more than they need a late lottery kind of prospect. Knicks get some future salary savings by taking on Kennard's expiring and get a chance to flesh out their depth with a prospect of their choosing. It also could allow them to either flip the pick for more picks down the line or give them more flexibility to move their late 1sts if they'd like.
I actually like the deal for both sides personally even if Kennard for Mitch and Bogs seems like a downgrade right now. It gives us more flexibility I think.
Man I'd give my left nut for JJJ to come to the Knicks, he's the most perfect player for our team, great defender & shot blocker, can finish around the rim, can knock down 3s.

It is possible that he won't ask out. But if he does THIS is the type of player you give a big package for. In almost no past superstar trade has a guy like Randle been included. Randle is a 25/10/5 guy who is under 30. That asking price you posed above is not what the price would be. It would be closer to what I proposed.

JJJ .... He would be an absolute great get. Resign I Hart. Trade some combo of Mitchell, Bogs , Achiwa and McBride and picks and make it happen. Oh and BTW both JJJ and Luke Kennard happened to be repped by......CAA
Mitchell, Bogdonavic, McBride, Achiwa and 3-4 FRPs for JJJ, Kennard
I-Hart, JJJ
Randle, JJJ
OG, Hart
Divo, Kennard
Brunson, Melton

Re: Trades and Transactions Ideas Thread
JJJ's dad coached our G-League team for a while and JJJ was one of Leon's clients before he took over and stayed with CAA after.
I'm sure the Knicks would be interested in Jaren but, I don't see Memphis moving him unless something again goes horribly wrong this year and he becomes disgruntled. Memphis has no reason to move him right now tbh. He's key to their title hopes next year, he's still young and he's under contract for next season and the season after with no player option.
Maybe next offseason?

Knicks shouldn't trade for anyone, because as currently constructed they are much better than Boston, Denver, Dallas, Philly etc.

Mitchell, Bogdonavic, McBride, Achiwa and 3-4 FRPs for JJJ, Kennard is arguably a stronger overall roster construction to complement Bane and Morant.

Absolutely I did. However The main point is WITH Randle in the trade it won't also include the excessive amount of additional assets you posted above.

Grizz aren't trading JJJ to us... not without Randle going back. JJJ fits Ja's timeline so unless he asks out after this upcoming season, I don't see him going anywhere. They're gonna run it back at least one more year IMO.

You are probably right but they might love Mitchell Robinson enough to consider the package I mentioned above or similar for a better defensive roster construction around Ja and Bane.

They’re an upcoming, young team with legit talent, which is why we’d of course love to get Bane and JJJ. As a team, they’re trying to do the same thing we do. We’re better, but we have to find our own JJJ or Bane since they are clearly untouchable.
Bridges is on the table.
But who could be our JJJ? Dallas got Gafford and Lively, who together resemble a very poor man‘s JJJ without the shooting. Randle is JJJ without the defense or shooting, and there are barely any stretch 4/5s out there. It’s hard. Towns is overpaid with bad defense outside of the low post. Lauri could come as a FA, but there won’t be any cap space. He doesn’t play much defense either.

The JJJ"s issue is rebounding. We have great rebounders in our team that can balance his lack of rebounding skills. But Thibs looks like a rebound junkie.

I'm sure they wouldn't mind a guy like Mitch but to play alongside JJJ rather than as a replacement. Remember, they were at their peak powers when Adams was manning the middle. JJJ isn't a center.
Mitch, JJJ, Bane, Smart, and Ja is pretty damn good if Mitch could stay healthy. That's probably why that one reputable writer suggested a Mitch to MEM trade where we get multiple assets in return. Maybe we flip those assets along with Bogs and more to get a guy like Mikal Bridges or Tre Murphy. 3-way trade.
