Kyrie "better than Jayson Tatum" Irving scored 15.7pts on 52.9 TS% in the second round. Jayson Tatum has scored at least 21 points in each of his last 14 playoff series (dating back to the second round versus Milwaukee in 2019). Jayson Tatum is also miles ahead as a defender, rebounder, leader and pretty much every other aspect of basketball. What are we even doing here ?

A prime Tatum in the biggest stage in theory is our best defender. Strong, long arms, and very reliable.

I have a feeling he’s shutting down Luka.

Some of the coverage will depend on foul trouble, of course.

Hopefully Brown and Tatum will be super-disciplined about fouls at both ends of the court except when they're defending Luka

Some of the coverage will of course also depend on PnR switches. It would be natural to have Tatum defend whoever Luka would otherwise most want to have screen for him.

And Brown should be able to do fine defending lobs, to the extent anybody can.

All this incredible hype, is due to this game being so far into the future. They should have given the Mavs no more than 4 days.
The only postive thing it does, is allow injuries to heal a bit.

Hell, let's get to it.

It's not your end mate, it's the site. Not sure whether their servers have been affected by some form of adware or whether it's their new or existing advertisement system that generates their revenue, but it constantly runs updates and tracking via javascript causing the poor performance.

Here is a screenshot from my Firefox Dev Tools window (It's just a 10 second sample of communication between my browser and RealGM servers - when all I have done is load the site and nothing else). Even as I type it's continuing to cycle and affect performance of the RealGM browser tab and slow down typing).

That's quite interesting. I remember using chrome on the S7 I still have, and it was always laggy and horrible. Once I switched to Samsung Browser it completely fixed it. Same ISP and everything... definitely a head scratcher for me, then. I'll throw a Let's go Celtics in here so it's not too much off-topic LOL.

Your change of phone or browser won't change what the site is serving, however if your phone is more powerful it may handle performance better or if the Samsung browser has an ad blocker it may have helped too.

Side note for others: I added an ad blocker extension to my Firefox browser and it has worked for this site.

I would suggest doing that (ad blocker on Firefox) and/or doing the same thing on Google Chrome (adding an ad blocker extension).
It'll help with other sites, as well. And you can choose to "allow" a page or site, as you go.

I never had much benefit, using a phone's built-in browser. I always go out to Chrome or Firefox.
But then, I use my computer, for the most part.

I truly hope the media and casuals keep on picking the Mavs and disrespecting the Celtics.

Perfect bulletin board material. I'm sure Mazzulla is loving every second of this.

Using the browser on iPhone lately has been brutal. Sometimes ok and sometimes almost unusable.

DAL, reg szn: 117.0
DAL vs. LAC: 115.9
DAL vs. OKC: 112.0
DAL vs. MIN: 118.3
DAL vs. BOS: ??

Not to toot my own horn excessively but I remember a conversation we had about Okc - their shooting improvements over a two year period were pretty crazy. Went from the bottom of the league to the top in 2 years.

Some of it was obviously getting better shooters (Chet, Joe etc) but also a lot was some huge leaps some of their long term guys had like Dort and to some extent Williams.

Just didn’t seem super sustainable to me.

Like I said, the Pacers offense is the best offense that the Cs faced in the 2024 playoffs and finals.

If OKC played the way they played in the regular season, against Dallas, SGA vs. Tatum would be the debate today.

Luka needs to average around 44 ppg to give the Mavs a chance in this series.

Not happening against this Celtic defense.

Nembhard went from 9 points per game in the regular season to 21 points per game in the conference finals.

I'm still not sure what an "empty" ball screen is, but I was particularly amused by a couple of plays where the opponent blitzed the PnR -- and Tatum was the roll man.

It occurs to me that hiding Luka on Jrue on defense may be an annoyingly good plan. The Cs would like to pull the Mavs' centers out to the perimeter with KP's or Al's shooting. Commonly when they do that, Jrue plays in the dunker's spot. But I'm guessing Luka would love to defend a shorter player who's hanging out near the basket, at least compared to other assignments he could get.

It also seems like a perfect fit for them to have Kyrie defend White. He's quicker than White, of course, and seems to be playing actively on defense these days.

HOWEVER, I'm describing a defensive strategy in which Dallas doesn't leave any Celtic shooters open, and that's quite different from how they've been playing. So whether they can execute on such a scheme, or will even try to, is a very open question.
