You make it seem like guys like Wemby and AD grow on trees, lol. Even a guy like Gobert is not that attainable, you are talking about a 3 time defensive player of the year.
This just shows that Trae is not the lead star that many people claim him to be. In addition this shows the difficulty in building around Trae that you have to surround him with a real superstar to have a chance to win and his faults.
The difference between Trae and true stars is that a true star would find ways to surpass their own personal deficiencies and that of their teammates to find ways to win. Doncic is not a great defender but still leads his team to wins. Giannis can’t shoot but the bucks still win. I really don’t think Trae is good enough, as the main guy, where his team can win despite his inefficient shooting on high usage, poor defense, bad shot section, and his many turnovers. It’s just too much.

Of course the Suns and Kings both passed up a chance to draft Luka to draft players who have not done much in the league.
I think what makes it a bad is that they had Doncic and traded him away.
What would make the trade worse is not only does Doncic win the title but they trade Trae this offseason, lol. That would be a kick in the gut.

I don’t know how much Pop would like Trae. I do think he would be great with Wemby though. In my opinion Trae would be best going to primarily defensive team that needs a scorer or to a team who’s star player is a two way player (like Wemby). If the Wolves could find a way to move KAT I think Trae would be a good fit in Minnesota.

Trae Young + Jalen Johnson + Capela + #1
FOR
Morant + JJJ + Aldama + #9
Who adds what? Guard swap with both getting a fresh start. Lineups are amazing after…
Sarr | Capela
Clarke | Sarr | GG
Jalen Johnson | Smith
Bane | VWJ
Trae | Smart
Okongwu | JJJ
JJJ | Aldama
Hunter | Bey
Murray* | BB
Morant | Bufkin
Plus #9.
*If Murray and Morant don’t work, trade him for SG who does.

There is no chance Memphis does this

Yeah but sometimes you need a chucker when your Star is a Pass first player and the #2 option doesn't shoot in the 4th quarter in the playoffs
Bronny will become Murray 2.0

Yeah I don’t see underrated. Really great offensive player that’s a defensive liability. He could be great on the right team but he’s probably a number three guy if you want to make a deep playoff run.

Gobert was 100% attainable that off season when Atlanta dumped all their picks on Dejounte Murray
Luka was not winning anything until the FO made the right moves and got him guys like PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford. The team was completely different after the FO made those moves.

Overrated chucker that somehow has led 4 top 10 offenses in a row, and lakers have no shot at Trae.

Not sure how you can create 50+ ppg with scoring + passing, lead a top 10 offense every year and be a number 3 guy and he’s already made a run in the playoffs.

3 straight play-in games. Nice.

I explained that. Defense is half the game and he doesn’t have the body or desire to participate much on that side of the floor.

Maybe statute not sure if I agree on desire anymore at least.

If there is desire, it doesn’t show up in results.

Re: Trae Young is Ridiculously Underrated
On offense his efficiency is a big problem as well. Yeah he generates a lot of points with 25/10, but also he misses 57% of his shots and turns the ball over 4.4 times a game.

High usage players are going to turn the ball over (especially ones racking up points and a lot of assists) and his efficiency is helped getting to the line....he did have career highs in all categories % wise before Hawks got Murray too....don't think they're a good fit together. I understand the defensive concerns and yes I know I already said it above but he leads a top offense every year as a #1.....how many are doing this?
2021 Hawks: 9th in ORTG (their ECF team)
2022 Hawks: 2nd in ORTG
2023 Hawks: 6th in ORTG
2024 Hawks: 11th in ORTG (Young missed 28 games, 7th when he got hurt)

I agree I don’t think it’s a good fit with Murray. My point is as a guy who is not a two way player and a ball dominant less than stellar efficiency player…if he is your best player you are not going to have much success. I mean if your goal is to make the playoffs then I guess.

Or I try to surround that player that guarantees you a top offense with better defensive fits. He doesn't need a high FG% for hawks to score a lot of points due to his playmaking. I think Murray is more suited to guard 1's than 2's with him only 180 pounds and that's a huge problem next to Trae. Should have gone after Gobert instead of Murray.

Make sure you show the whole list, young man.
Turns out, high usage players turn the ball over more than low usage ones.
