Re: Around the League - Celtics/Mavs Finals
I don't watch WNBA simply because I'm just getting done watching 8+ months of basketball and need a break. And lots to do in the summer.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I don't know enough about the situation. It was a good experience? Like a beautiful new beginning? Was that what was going on?
I was a Jabari fan almost until the end, I do hope he finds happiness.
I've been kinda keeping tabs on him this season and he seems like he's genuinely liking basketball again over there. Seen interviews where he talks about loving the city he's playing in, how he loves the Euroleague, recently signed an extension to stay over there. Here's a quote about what happened in that video
"They were tears of gratitude. I wasn't sure I'd be able to play again. In Barcelona, I've recovered my love for basketball," he stated.

I like to think there's an alternative world where a Bud, Doc whoever coach gets Jabari and Larry and reached through to them as people and moulds them into long term pros rather than whatever Kidd was doing at these dudes. Fully aware it's probably wouldn't have mattered who the coach was but I still like to think it.

Will always hold the opinion that Jabari would've been a very good NBA player in an alternate universe where he has iron knees. Always seemed like a good guy and I'm so happy for his growth
Also just want to post the full interview to show a bit more context. Listen to the thoughtfulness and humility in which Jabari speaks, he is a very kind person. Will never dislike the guy

That makes me happy. He was a genuinely good guy.

I have trouble lumping in Jabari with Larry. By all accounts, Jabari was a good dude, but kind of misguided/myopic young kid who was branded a NBA superstar at 18 years old and didn't get you had to work on D/develop actual feel. Larry would get in fights in the locker room and bars, abuse his dogs by leaving them in 0 degree temperature and refused to comply with league policies (whether you agree with them or not, he had like 5 strikes before it got serious)

Tearing your ACL twice before your 22nd birthday seems to me like the biggest factor in Jabari not living up to his potential, but for whatever reason that always got lost in all the toxic discourse about him "not caring" about basketball. Like yeah, no **** that would screw you up mentally as well as your entire development path. Glad he seems to be finally at peace with his career overseas.

Plenty of rose colored glasses with Jabari here.
Skirted by on natural gifts. Never worked. All in all, him and Giannis were such polar opposites re: work ethic. Admitted that he gave less than a f*ck about defense.
Heard some stories about him being a dick to fans in Milwaukee as well including young kids. Not losing sleep over a guy like that. Great PR though.

Lmao, par the course for you. This was a good opportunity to say nothing. The lack of any sort of empathy is alarming

Don't let your player opinions from 10+ years ago take away humanity from these guys, that's nasty stuff.

Re: Around the League - Celtics/Mavs Finals
Question for Bucks fans, looking at how the season ended, do you think trading Jrue invited some type of bad karma on the team this season( if you believe in the concept)? People used to say that but I shrugged it off. The Bucks were just trying to make their team better after all. However, Jrue is in the Finals in the most loaded roster in the league, which is coincidentally the Bucks fiercest rival. On top of that, they are favored to win the title, while Giannis and Dame went down to injuries during the stretch of the season, and the team imploded to cap off a disappointing season.
Back of my head, makes me think the Bucks had to pay off some type of karmic debt for the blood sacrifice of trading Jrue who helped them win a title.
Not trying to disrespect the team at all, as I'm a Giannis fan that roots for the Bucks to succeed.

If you want to get real deep into the karma thing, Giannis was our karmic answer for having a joke of a franchise for 30 years prior. Bucks would be one of the last teams to be in a karmic debt, maybe look at Lakers or Celtics.

The bad Karma (which is a myth lol) is Lisa replacing Paschke after the championship season. Sprinkle in healthy doses of Novak and we have no chance at winning another one.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Never heard the second part. Only had good encounters with Jabari. So sad to hear that.
As for the first part, I think people group in being a bad employee with being a bad person because ultimately all we care about is winning. I wasn't saying Jabari was a great Buck, just saying he wasn't a POS like Larry Sanders was while he was here, from what I know. Like I'm not going to lose any sleep about Jabari not being in the NBA, but his not a guy I'm going to root against either. It's a nice little side story if he matured and found his own niche.
(Also don't think you can say he had a bad work ethic. Dude worked his ass to come back from the first ACL and was an even better athlete because of it. If i remember right, he blamed suki/bucks for pushing him too hard to come back too soon the first time and putting him at risk. As RS said, it is easy to see how an immature 21-year-old could say f-it I'm going to only score points and get paid because that is the business. He was wrong and idiot for saying it outloud, but he paid the price by being out of the league)

Why does trading Jrue invoke bad karma? We traded a ton of assets for him, we resigned him to a max deal, and ultimately he ended up with another max deal in a good spot. Shouldn't we get good karma?
Does trading Grayson Allen give us bad karma as well? Or is it good karma because he happens to have a punchable face? Like it sucks trading Jrue, but for some reason fans seem to act like he is the only player that had a family and didn't want to suddenly be traded.

I think Suki and the Bucks training staff can stand on their history and reputation. Didn’t Jabari say (can’t remember if it was the first or second time) that he rehabbed just by playing pick up hoops?
As far as the morals police coming after me, bring it. There’s real problems in this world. If you want to fault me for not boohooing a dude that flamed out in Milwaukee, and had an overinflated sense of self worth multiple times over (including allegedly as recent as last summer) while making almost $60 million in his career of playing a game go nuts. My conscience is clean.

Jabari couldn't play passable defense with 2 knees but I don't think it was a matter of him not caring it was a matter of him taking lessons on that side of the ball from Coach "K" or as I call him Coach "Que" because this is what I imagine his response is when he's asked about instilling good habits on the non-offensive side of the court also this supposes hes latinx or responding to a question on tel of mundo could also mean he didnt hear the question for what ever reason.

The worst off ball defender I’ve ever seen.
