Not all four will be performing in the clutch. At some point, one or two of these guys will choke. So sure, they combine for 60 all games this series, but we will all remember who missed that last crucial basket in a crucial game.

Are these Celtics better than the 95-96 Bulls? Sure seems like it with what I’m seeing from Celtics fans. The Celtics starters are all first team NBA and all of their bench players are 6th man of the year caliber. They have ZERO weaknesses!

I'm late to the party but as a duo I take Luka/Kyrie. As a full roster I take the C's. KP, White and Jrue are all-star level talents in their own right. Stevens did a masterful job weaving together big talent without friction or diminishing returns.

It's seriously getting ridiculous. They go from this victim complex believing in some false narrative that everyone saying Dallas is favourite, Boston is the underdog blah blah blah to Celtics being the best team ever assembled since Endgame.. all in the same thread (obv not talking about all Celtic fans). Cocky mfers.

To both of you - good job talking about fanbases instead of basketball

I mean, a fan base is certainly part of sports and basketball discussion. But sure, I get it.. just please dont get it twisted and think I am hating. I said it in another thread, I have NO problems if either team wins the chip. They both have very likeable players.

I love these straw men. No one is saying anything like that.

For comparison, the 95-96 Bulls had the 3rd best point differential in NBA history. The Celtics this year had the 5th best all time.

The Celtics this year were, statistically, one of the best teams in league history. That’s just what the numbers say. They do not have 5 first team all NBA players, but they very conceivably have 5 all star caliber starters. None of their bench guys are stat sheet stuffers for serious 6th man of the year consideration but they have 3 very quality players there.

You’re trying to exaggerate and be facetious but this year’s Celtics team actually has been one of the all time great teams statistically and even your exaggerations aren’t that far off from reality. It doesn’t mean they’re a guarantee to get it done or that they can’t flop or even that Luka and Kyrie and co. could just be that special in a series to match that level and get it done even with Boston playing their best. But the confidence for Boston being at an all time level comes from…. The fact that they have played at exactly that level this year.

As a team, the Celtics are at a point where they’ve been close so many times that no one cares or acknowledges anything about them until they actually win it all. It just seems hollow to comment on anything else at this point.

That overall sentiment applies to Tatum, where no one really wants to hear about any of his individual accomplishments in a year he doesn’t get it done. Further to that, for as good as he is, he never really challenges for the best player. Even his most hardcore supporters can’t seriously make a case he’s AS GOOD as Jokic, Giannis, Luka. There’s a ceiling to how much love and respect Tatum is gonna get from general public because his highlight reel and peek level doesn’t seriously challenge the best of the best and people associate him with falling short of winning it all now, fair or not.

"The Stars" tonight so far in the first half:

Tatum: 8 pts, 6 rebs, 3 asts
Brown: 13 pts, 3 steals
Irving: 6 pts (3/9 FGs)
Doncic: 17 pts

Not too shabby numbers but it's the other "role player" (*a star when healthy) that has taken over. Porzingis has 18 pts on 7 of 9 shooting at the half as the Celtics lead 63-42.

So Tatum was mediocre and Brown was good but didn’t go nuts.

That’s a bad sign for the Mavs IMO.

Luka took 26 shots, Tatum/Brown took 28.

Celtics duo 38 pts on 28 shots.
Mavs 42 pts on 44 shots.

If The Mavs don’t have a lopsided scoring balance this series in this stars matchup they got know chance.
