The Thinking Basketball podcast brought up this point that our own steef has brought up to me in the past, in response to the question "Why do so many people think the Celtics' offense looks stagnant or unimpressive or boring even though they are the most explosive and efficient offense in NBA history?" Ben Taylor (and even earlier, steef) both proposed that it's because the personnel they have allows them to just run a couple screens, make one or two passes to get the ball to someone with a mismatch, and then if the opponent tries to defend one-on-one then they get an efficient shot in isolation, and if the opponent sends a help defender then they make a single pass to an open three point shooter. Other teams that generate great offense usually have to put a lot more work into it - make multiple consecutive passes, break down the defense with impressive drives to the basket, etc - so seeing a team that doesn't need to do a lot with the ball to generate an efficient shot doesn't match a lot of people's notions of what a productive offense is supposed to look like. I thought this was a really interesting topic that bears repeating, and steef deserves a hat tip for pointing it out before members of the media and professional analysts got to the subject.

Man I hope the bench performs this series. They’ve been mostly awful these playoffs especially last series where we got nothing from Hauser. With Horford maybe going back to the bench will help things but Sam and PP are gonna be counted on to hit some timely threes when they’re in.

Man I hope the bench performs this series. They’ve been mostly awful these playoffs especially last series where we got nothing from Hauser. With Horford maybe going back to the bench will help things but Sam and PP are gonna be counted on to hit some timely threes when they’re in.

The bench is second in net rating. PP and Hauser just sucked in the ECF but Brissy and X were able to provide production.

You're giving Luka and Kyrie way too much credit.

Disagree, they are both transcendent offensive talents.

If they played at their respective averages we win probably in 5, max 6. If they both go ballistic it’s a close 6-7 with anything happening.

Luka is a once in a generation offensive talent and Kyrie is elite on that end as well. How is he giving them too much credit?

Two elite guys not enough to beat this Celtics team.

Maybe the 2022 Celtics, but not this 2024 team.

I would LOVE to the Celtics sweep their way to Banner 18...Even 5 games. Shut everyone up. Head into the offseason with the narrative being, "This team was simply better than everyone else this season...and they're all coming back."
