Could possibly put us in a Hali-Fox situation where we get a strong return for shipping out whichever guard we think is a worse fit long term. Also might let us off load Tre and/or Micic to a playoff contender for some decent gain.

If Topic's knees a concern then I hope they take whoever they determine is the best perimeter defender available whether that be Castle, Holland, or even Williams.

Topic almost certainly won’t be a better player than Micic or Mann currently is until his 2nd or 3rd year

Tre Mann was nearly out of the league, he is a good flier as a depth guard but any guard we take at #6 is passing him on the depth chart over night. Vasa is going to be 31 yrs old and probably isn't on this team in 12 months if we take a guard at #6.

That is the equivalent of saying hey if we draft Clingan he is 3rd string for 2 yrs behind Nick Richards.

No it is not. Clingan day 1 would be a much more impactful defender than Nick Richards. Clingan is better right now than Richards ever was or ever will be.

I think you are way too high on Topic coming back and contributing after multiple knee injuries. There will be a long adjustment period for him. He may not even be able to play Summer League.

Isn't Micic under contract as well? So Topic would have to pass both Mann and Micic in that case.

I wouldn't pencil in anyone in this class as instant impact rookies. Clingan, or Edey, is a little closer to that than Topic due to physical development (and not recovering from an ACL tear) but I wouldn't be shocked if Nick was a better NBA player than them in November. They'll adjust and improve as the season goes on and obviously in the long-term both should be better than Nick. If we play a rookie over Nick, or Cody Martin, it will be sacrificing today for tomorrow. Not because the young guys are better now.
