Rockets Discussing Third Pick Trades With Nets, Grizzlies

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Jun 5, 2024 1:21 pm

The Houston Rockets have discussed trading the third overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft with both the Brooklyn Nets and Memphis Grizzlies.

The Rockets target in trade talks with the Nets is Mikal Bridges. However, Brooklyn is seeking players to add around Bridges in any deals they make.

The Grizzlies are reportedly attempting to move up to be in range to draft center Donovan Clingan. Memphis has a need for a long-term center to add to their core. Clingan isn't expected to be available when the Grizzlies select with the ninth overall pick.

Memphis should trade #9 for Poeltl if they can't land Clinghan, if they want a great rebounding C who can pass, or draft Ware at #9 if they want to play 5 out.

If the Raptors could get Ware for Poeltl that would be great for the Raptors to add to their young core.

As a huge fan of the Grit & Grind days, the current iteration of the Grizzlies is built on speed. Adding a 7'2" 265lb center completely goes against Ja's ability to push tempo.

They may as well have held onto Adams, who at least brought toughness and attitude.
