The money quote is LeBron saying "This Joe Mazzulla guy is a **** genius"

My position on Joe has always been that I'm a skeptic until he proves the team can win a ring with him. :dontknow: Red Auerbach himself could rise from the grave and go on ESPN and tell everyone Joe is the best coach the game has ever seen and that wouldn't change. Especially given the talent and experience the team has at its disposal.

He also needs to prove he can make the right adjustments this finals.

Lol this is literally just LeBron indirectly calling himself a genius and trying to make it seem like he thought of something first  classic Bron.

It's really a big deal for James to say that. Obviously Boston needs to win the Finals as that will be the ultimate proof that Mazzulla's approach works. But James very publicly just gave his (and Klutch's) Seal of Approval to playing for Mazzulla--that is so long as you can stand Boston the city itself.

I also don't think it was an accident that Bronny mentioned Jrue and DWhite as two of the three archetypes for how he should try to develop his own game.

Obviously we're very limited operating at the second apron. But Boston CAN deal one-for-one on salaries, can deal one salary for two smaller ones, can deal a player for draft compensation, and can sign veterans to the minimum. I don't think the Jameses are really coming to the Celtics. But I do think the Celtics will have more maneuverability than we think over these years to manage assets and extend this run as long as possible. So long as they win this Finals.

lol, I though that too. I did watch the whole pod and there was another thing earlier when he & JJ were talking about Mazzulla doing something else they liked as well. Can't remember what, though.

LeBron had a lot of praise for Joe in that clip, not just the "money quote".
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

He knows he can win more rings here while having his son mentored by Jrue and White.
Plus he understands Brad knows how to develop players and Mazz is a coach on the rise.
Jrue, White, JB, JT, KP. Brad’s Masterpiece.

He also understands we can only pay the vet min, his son wouldn’t get minutes even before his addition to the roster, and he’s got his legacy to worry about at the end of his career.

He understands he’ll have a heck of a time finding a decent team to give his anointed son any meaningful minutes.
Legacy wise, we all understand playing with the Celtics is the pinnacle for any player.

LeBron isn't coming to Boston lol. But being an NBA coach (especially one coaching all stars) is more vibes and having the respect of the room than coaching. If Joe has LeBron's stamp of approval, that's telling in a good way.

Return to Boston Celtics
