Of these three, it’s got to be Alcaraz until Wemby breaks through.

No way. Alacaraz had been struggling badly with zero titles since Wimbledon last year. What he has done so far is impressive, but Wemby was doing things we had never ever seen before. It’s absolutely wemby. He got better and better as the season wore on. Alacaraz only in this tournament got better on his best surface but fell off hard after Wimbledon last year until now

Yeah Alcaraz’s season so far would be like if Chet Holmgren outplayed him (Holmgren being Sinner) and got to #1.
Carlos may not beat Zverev on Sunday. He already lost to him here in 2022 and Zverev made him look pretty bad in Australia this year too. He’s a great player but I think he’s a level below the Big 3, whereas Wembanyama legitimately has GOAT potential.

Well said my friend. I just think Carlos right now is super hot form, but I hope Zverev makes it a good match. You nailed it.

So.
Carlos
youngest to win GS in the three surfaces.
IF he wins the aussie next year he would be youngest to have the whole 4.
Advantage Alcaraz.

Nah, wemby has a much higher ceiling than Alcaraz. He’s doing things we have never seen before for his size, Alcaraz is merely a very good tennis player.

Between Alcaraz, Tiafoe, and Shelton, I think we are going to see tennis start becoming big again.

Tiafoe is nowhere near the level. Shelton has potential with his serve, but coming after Djokovic, nadal and Federer tennis could be entering some dark ages if anything. Will need more than just Alcaraz/Sinner and I’m sure new talent will come.

Exactly. He’s not even the best player in his own team, it’s Vinicius

Compared to Alcaraz and Wembanyama, don't think Mbappé qualifies as a young phenom; he'll be 26 in December.

Why? Alcaraz beat Joker as a teenager, Tiafoe has been able to hang with anyone even though he is much worse than them, and Shelton is still super young and has done pretty well for himself his first year as a pro. Not to mention all the other young guns out there. I think we will look back in 3-5 years and think it was silly not to see the resurgence coming.

Bellingham has been a no show for like 6 months. Dont know who alcaraz but Wemby is the one for me. Dude is an absolute freak of nature. Barring injuries this dude is going to be on every MVP/DPOY list.
People compared Bellingham to Zizou and i facepalm.

Alcaraz is awesome, the other two, especially tiafoe aren’t into the convo.
Tiafoe is 26 you know that right? Tennis is going to have a bit of a dip if it hasn’t already and Alcaraz and sinner will be leading the pack.
Tennis viewership as a whole has been declining year over year despite the young guns.

Shelton also comes off as a bit of an ass but he is young and will mature and grow out of it.
Small sample size obviously but the sentiment is there.

At least we have that, though. Two tentpole stars who you know will be in the final or thereabouts for the foreseeable future. You can build a marketing campaign around that, in ways two is better than three for narrative building (see Sampras Agassi, Evert Navratilova, etc)
What do you think of Alcaraz compared to the Big 3? It’s undeniable that he’s way ahead of schedule at only age 21, but I don’t know. Feel like none of his slam wins have been particularly convincing.

You are right that a rivalry like Alcaraz/Sinner can bode well. There was a bit of a dark age after Sampras and Agassi retired and then nobody predicted Federer/Nadal was going to be the big rivalry until Djokovic surpassed them.
As far as Carlos compared to the big 3 you really have to give the kid some credit. He’s a showman and his win against Djokovic at Wimbledon last year was jaw dropping. Probably the best I have seen anyone play against Djokovic on grass. And this is factoring in that Carlos’s best surface is clay.
However, even this tourney win just didn’t feel like the needle move his GS wins last year were. I think Sinner will actually finish the year with more slams but if Carlos regains his form to what he showed last season he can get the year end #1.
I think the big 3 having the top 3 greatest ever at the same time and getting all those slams in a tough era is so insane that Carlos would be probably need 3-4 slams more than Djokovic to solidify that title of GOAT. However, even if he gets 26 slams the argument for him will be there.
I just think with his injury history and who knows who turns up in the coming years (maybe another teenage wonder kid) I still don’t think he will surpass 25. We will get more great young players that right now may just be a footnote as they develop into proper pros.
