Why do you need to call out the lie?

If Mazzulla had said Kyrie is the best Mav, Luka would say "he's right", Kyrie would say "Luka is our best player" and Mavs fans would laugh it off.

Meanwhile, Celtics fans need us all to know that Kidd is "lying" (trust us, we know what he's doing; we're not idiots), Brown has to talk about Tatum's sacrifice, and Tatum can't bring himself to say "yeah, Brown is the best, he's right". That says everything it needs to.

Because it’s not the narrative on here man. We have had multiple threads saying Brown is better than Tatum. We constantly have these battles.

If Brown was the better player, Celtics fans would have no issue saying so. It’s the fact these types of comments have come up their whole career.

I doubt if Joe called Kyrie the best player that Luka would say he’s right. Plus I’m sure everyone here and in the media would have an opinion on it and would rightfully call him out which is all Celtic fans are doing.

There was nothing wrong with how Tatum answered the question. He said they’re a team and sang Browns praises.

Luka had only 7 potential assists in game 1, Kyrie had 4. Mavs were really pushed into a lot of individual scoring in this one by the Celtics, so it would be a huge bump for them if they can figure out a way to force advantages that can give them more open shot opportunities. Celtics definitely have shown the right tools in game 1 to contain them, Mavs have to counter now.

The Mavs fill the paint hard on drives. Worked well cuz it stopped the wolves completely as they have non shooters in main lineup. Bad strat to fill the paint, man or zone against the Celtics.

The defensive breakdowns for the Mavs looked really bad, but bottom line, I thought it was just a little bit less than what would be good enough, dropping 125 PPP offense (Celtics rating at home) to 115, including some impossible shots falling, is good enough in my book, the main failure was on the other side, total opposite to what I expected TBH, I expected the struggle to be mainly on defense, not on offense.

Is that their in season rating or playoffs? Generally scoring and pace drops in playoffs for many reasons, like generally officials allow more physical defense.

Like, first time lively pushed KP out past the 3 pt line they called it a foul, he literally shoved him. But the next five times they did it, it was all cool.

In regular season that would be six fouls and of course they wouldn't have done it six times in a row, allowing kp to get a shot earlier in shot clock and higher percentage to score. And that's just the playoffs

Jason Kidd was a very smart basketball player. And i can see that he’s also a very smart tactician— true or not, it’s a sign of trying out different things when you’re clearly outmatched in a series so him rocking the (Boston) boat makes sense and he’s just hoping it works.

I wasn't happy when the Cs drafted Jaylen Brown. I wanted Jamal Murray. I was disappointed when the latter was a key contributor in Denver's first title. That said, I'm prepared to eat crow if the Cs win the Finals. Fortunately, I have the aid of a world class chef.

FWIW, the last time Doncic had 37 pts and 11 assists the Celtics won 138-110. Doncic is going to get his shots and assists and I don’t think they can realistically stop him.

Yeah, the idea isn't to stop Doncic, per say, but to keep him from killing you both ways.

If Doncic (or Irving) gets hot, forget it. He's going to make tough shots and there just isn't much that can be done.

Limiting his assists, however, is going to be a function of making the role players either 1) take tough, contested shots and/or 2) forcing the role guys to put the ball on the floor. In either case, it is going to require sticking closer to the role player versus overcommitting to swarm Doncic.

Essentially, it's the obvious observation that it easier to shut down Kleber, Jones Jr, and PJ Washington than it is Irving or Doncic. And Boston has the "luxury" of having 4 very capable guys of playing Irving and Doncic more or less 1 v 1 and making it difficult for them.

Sounds easy in theory, but I'd hate to be the one to try to put it into practice.
