Who is more achievable for Keldon+Graham?

Post#1 » by zimpy27 » Sun Jun 9, 2024 6:28 am

Bradley Beal

Or

Zach LaVine

Comes with $10-20m savings.

An easy way for Spurs to get all star talent added to Wemby. Both injury prone but can help Wemby be better and Spurs could still look to tank if injuries happen

Cant see they have any intrest in beal. And not sure they should have any intrest in lavine either. Cant see the rush really. If it were a pg like cp3 or such that could steer the ship, sure go for it. But those are jist pure scorers on horrible deals

Well both LaVine and Beal can run an offense. I think they are more than pure scorers. But yeah agree that is more the need.

Shout be enough for LaVine and more than enough for Beal (and I'm pretty low on Keldon Johnson).

I don't like either of them as targets though. IMO the only other long-term starter on the roster is Vassell so SG should be the last priority for adding a starter (yes Beal and LaVine can run an offense some, but that's the sort of secondary ball-handling and playmaking that you expect from a SG).

I think Lavine is more achievable, because Beal probably nixes his deal to avoid being scapegoated by Wemby fans/media or he prefers Phoenix or prefers playing with his current teammates or some other reason.

Beal and Lavine are two huge negatives in terms of value given their contracts, this is abhorrent for the Spurs.

I would say none, however I would move the salary space to 2025, which is when I think I should take the big leap in quality and while I would get an incredible mentor like CP3 to help develop the children...

The Spurs don't need to add "All-Star talent next to Wemby" this year. They definitely don't need to be cheap about it. The Spurs shouldn't be trading value for negative deals without incentive right now. Having Wemby shouldn't make them foolish.

I have both deals as *fair,* but Lavine isn't the guy you want to pair with Wemby and Beal isn't worth the risk in terms of age, injury, and cap commitment. I believe he just had surgery.

Spurs fans have been pretty clear on this forum--they don't want to make moves to win now. They are more interested in renting out cap space and obtaining future assets. I don't know if the organization is in the same place, especially Pop, but the fans want to slow things down, not speed them up.

The Lavine haters don't seem to think he has any value as a basketball player. The Bulls have no need for journeyman Graham.

Lavine played well on the National team with Pops so maybe he knows more of his game than people around here. He's a step up over anybody he'd replace in their lineup, scoring off the dribble, in transition or stretching the floor. If they feel Jones can run the offense Zach won't need to go iso very much.

If the Spurs want to balance the books some send Johnson to CHI, if they didn't think enough of him to start he should be replaceable. If picks make things look better the Spurs could send back the Bulls 2025 pick or change the protections so it doesn't convey

I think both Suns and Bulls would love the deal, but I don't understand why SA would like either.

Lavine's huge contract is such a negative because it kills your cap space and limits you in free agency and other trades. On top of that t's hard to envision Lavine and Vassell playing together since their skill sets overlap and so do their shortcomings. At this point in their careers, I think Vassell is a much better option for the Spurs all things considered (age, progression, contract, health, etc). So this is a non starter.

Probably Beal but sure why Spurs would want either of them.

They don't actually have a lot of cap space to rent out, particularly if they use both top-10 picks.
