Simple, simple deal.
Maxi for Kenrich.
Thunder get a mobile backup center who will shoot above the break 3's for less than $5M of their cap space.
Mavs save $4.5M under the aprons, and add another rugged defensive forward as Jones insurance/depth.

1) i think mavs owe a 2nd or 2
2) OKC wouldnt do this until after they know what they are doing w/ their capspace
I think OKC should look for a better rebounder though

This probably boils down to how much OKC feels like they can trust Maxi to stay healthy.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Oh it goes without saying OKC should look at bigger stuff first. And I don't think this has to preclude them adding a rebounder because Maxi can play both big positions and a lot of his value is his ability to guard in space.
But I don't see Dallas adding value here nor do I understand why they owe it. Maxi is more expensive and injury prone, but he's also a player with more utility which I think balances it out.

I think people consider kenrich neutral (or more) value while most think maxi is slightly negative.. or at least i do anyways. OKC might prefer the bigger body as you said and go ahead with the swap without additional incentives.

this would reduce the amount of people named Williams on the Thunder, so i think they're out on this one.
investigate Adam Silver

https://www.sportsbusinessclassroom.com/understanding-trade-matching-in-the-new-collective-bargaining-agreement/
Can someone confirm my understanding here... this says that:
"As of July 1, for teams below the apron:
Up to $7.25 million in outgoing salary can bring back 200 percent plus $250,000"
OKC will obviously be below the apron even if/when they use their cap space. Kenrich makes $6.669M which 200% of plus $250K is more than enough for Kleber's $11M salary. So the discussion in here about OKC needing to use cap space would be moot, no? Couldn't they just agree to this in principle and then execute once they're done with other moves?
I like the move for OKC to preserve their 5-out style if Chet ever needs some games off. Some guys have sophomore slumps and he's coming off the longest stretch he's ever played basketball for with a playoff run so maybe he needs some time off if they want to be cautious with him (remember, he came with some injury risk). And at the deadline, Kleber's salary would allow them to take back $18.5M in a trade while Kenrich is about $13M. So it's possible it could help them swing a midseason deal with a clean 1 for 1 rather than needing to do a 2 for 1 and find a home for someone else or something like that.
For DAL, they have Gafford/Lively at C and then Powell as emergency depth. So they don't need Kleber small ball 5 minutes as much as they need backup PF options so Kenrich fits well. And, more importantly, chips at the savings they need to re-sign DJJ and possibly add a starting caliber SF above him.

Unless they need kenrich as salary filler for their other moves. Ie bringing in a max player who makes more than their existing cap space
