Why the hell doesn't ESPN use Tim Legler for pregame or halftime?

Post#1 » by ScrantonBulls » Mon Jun 10, 2024 1:21 am

Everybody knows ESPN is a complete joke with their pregame and halftime crew. Why not at least use their most knowledgeable analyst for these games? His breakdowns with SVP are better than any of the other clowns on the halftime show. Why not use Legler on the crew?

It's because ESPN is a joke. It's nothing more than loud mouthed clowns.

Same reason lyrical, conscious rappers never have the best selling rap albums. Its all about the casual audience

He's a Mavs homer.

He's not entertaining either. ESPN wants clicks and views at the end of the day.

I really wish he would replace JJ during the in game commentary, more insightful without the arrogance/smugness.

Bc he's a white guy. Disney is all about diversity, just look at the new Star Wars series or anything since 2020, even before that.

Bob Myers is white, and no one is clamoring to hear Bob Myers' analysis.

The real reasons are that 1) the average viewer just wants to be entertained and couldn't care less about good basketball analysis and 2) Tim Legler isn't very charismatic or entertaining.

Lacks charisma. He isn't the type to spark outrage and create narratives like the others.

Maybe pre game, but half time is more quick talking points. He’s too in depth for that setting, IMO. Hes best on the days in between games when I have 15 minutes to watch an insightful breakdown. That’s not the pre game/halftime/postgame setting

JJ's rise has been astonishing. The guy went from doing a bb youtube for a few years to all of a sudden calling the finals? He must have a lot of friends.

I thought he has been pretty good in his first season as an analyst. Makes good points and has a unique perspective.

I believe Legler has been on ESPN's NBA coverage since day 1. I have always enjoyed his analysis. Only time I watch SportsCenter nowadays is to see Legler on SVP Sportscenter.
