The KAT rumors might have legs because:
1) Leon promised Dolan he and WWW would get him a "star."
2) Unless someone surprisingly asks out, no other "star" may be available.
3) With our growth, picks, and other assets, the time to make a move for someone is now (before the new rules kick in).
4) Going after KAT would explain why we added former Minny POBO Rokas to our front office.
5) KAT can play the 4 or the 5 and could be the iHart replacement if he goes elsewhere.
The truth is, Minny is a secondary market team that can't afford to keep their current squad together and needs to save money/avoid the tax. With that said, the KNICKS might be able to nab KAT without giving up the farm or even any picks. We could end up having assets remaining for some future deal.
Other names ahead of KAT would be on my off-season wishlist. However, I do see multiple reasons why pursuing him might make sense for Leon.
OG’s a star. He was looking like Kawhi before he got hurt.
Eh. He's a really good role player.
Like, Bobby Jones was a GREAT player on the 76ers teams, but wasn't really a star.
But any team would want that player.
I'd take Bobby Jones over Randle 11 times out of 10
