This is how Rob probably felt when he flipped 12 players off the #1 defense in 2021

AD was a failed experiment
Trade him for a younger Star
Failed? How? The won a title or am I tripping?

Jeanie is the failed experiment really.

LeBron and AD should've atleast won two rings
AD needs to go become #1 option somewhere

If Lakers can get a Mitchell/Trae for AD

I would do it just because AD can't create his own offense and is always with a nagging injury.

Trade a few pieces for Lauri and a decent center.

LeBron, Mitchell, Prince, Lauri, Jonas

That alone would give you 3 players in the Backcourt that can actually score and Lauri would become LeBron's shooting big man that opens up the floor a lot vs AD that's can't even hit a wide open 3 all playoffs.

Jonas would give the Lakers actually real center size with decent scoring abilities

AD's defense is overrated, that's why he keeps losing to Gobert every year with DPoY

Also a Mitchell/Lauri Duo would still be good after LeBron Retires. AD would be in a wheelchair after these 3 yrs of hard playoff runs
Bronny will become Murray 2.0

YOu can still build a solid team around AD ... But you can't have him as number 5 option (center), need to get bigs that make him number 4 option :) Capela? Any chance Lakers can get Capela?

give me Kessler, George/sensebaugh, Lauri, Sexton and all three picks (2 first and second) of this drafts... for AD, Gabe Vincent

trade vando #10 for Caruso and #11

than trade all three FRP 2024 draft , reaves and Rui for Mitchell

Caruso/Mitchell/Lauri/Lebron/kessler

Rather just get Howard and McGee vs A expensive Capela.

Let's see what happens

Why are some of you still stuck on Dwight Howard? The success he had vs Joker was almost 4 years ago. He's older and Joker is much better. Javale McGee is also 36 years old and couldn't get minutes over Alex Len this year. Guys have to stop living in the past. The league has moved on and fast.

It's either Howard and McGee for the minimum or Woods & Hayes.

I'll take the first 2

Agreed. Dwight will be 39 about 20 games into next season. It's over. Great career. Came and was a big piece in one of our titles. But the song's finished....time to move on. Dwight wouldn't be nearly the help he was......Jokic has entered his prime, and our two stars were 4 years younger....almost 5 years, once the next finals rolls around.

The sooner the FO gets over this duo, and rebuilds, the better. If some major star....an actual difference maker can somehow get traded for.....I'm reluctantly willing to give it a shot. But short of that.....enough with thinking a couple tweaks will get us anywhere. We would have missed the playoffs the last 3 years...but for the new wider net. We're not close...and we're DESCENDING.

The Lakers fans and front office don't believe in their brand the way they say they do. There is absolutely no reason for them to triple down on this duo at this stage of Lebron's career. Lebron is 40 and while he still can play at a high level on MOST nights, he could barely close games with superstar level energy in the playoffs.

All this sentimental bs about treating your stars right by overpaying them and letting them try to compete beyond their best years is nonsense. Overpaying Kobe had 0 impact on them getting Lebron. It didn't get them Melo, Aldridge, KD or PG13 when the opportunities were there.

The Lakers don't have a front office that is serious about basketball. They are riding off the popularity of the brand, Bron, and the hopes they can just "right the ship" by signing the next big name.

1,000%
10,000%

Look at the Clippers history. And Kawhi used us to get there, along with "playoff P".

Didn't the Celtics do IA about as wrong as can possibly be done? Like that was pure sh**y even by normal human standards. Certainly didnt seem to affect them. Telling Lebron we're gonna rebuild, and that we'd like to have him at 15-18 mil for a couple more years, and if not...we'd do our best to accommodate him (he could just opt out as well) is hardly screwin the guy over.

This team is not a playoff team. Yeah, the league widened the net. But we were 9th...bottom half of the conference. We wouldn't have made the playoffs in 3 years if it weren't for the new rule allowing teams that shouldn't make it, in. There is no shame in breaking it up. I think it's even the best time....considering our two stars were essentially injury free this season....so there's no pointing to "well this happened, and that happened". Nope. This is what we got. That was about the best it'll get with this duo. The Lakers would be perfectly within their right to say that this isn't working anymore. Everyone would understand.

And we'd still be able to get SOMETHING for AD!!!! Why wait till he's worthless?!?! It just makes no sense (other than the obvious). And wouldn't it be so much more fun to watch a new team, than this ancient garbage again???

Sometimes hard decisions have to be made. It's always business over bull. Jerry Buss made hard decisions during his time as owner. He also didn't allow anyone to be above the brand.

I agree on the two rings, but AD's not even a top 5 candidate to blame for that underachievement in my opinion.

AD is one of the best and most versatile big man defenders in the modern era. He’s Tim Duncan good on defense. I’d actually argue he’s even better because he’s more versatile, can cover guards on switches which Duncan couldn’t. Combine that with clutch offense (Bubble) and I’d pick him over Gobert any day of the week.

We just need a good coach.

Can we ignore the trades and getting expensive vets?

We need to focus on our assets and improve with longer 3/D wings. Resign Max and give him time to grow. Look to sign Dlo cheap and trade him if possible.

Want the Lakers to get a hungry HC with smart assistants like Luke Murray with good formation and advanced O/D play action.

Love to add EDEY to move AD to 4 or if he is not available at 17, then get stretch wings or long PF/C.

Not Yo Ham Lakers!

The Don and The King!

Return to Los Angeles Lakers
