Do you really think this has anything to do with what people will call him?
Not like the defenses the Mavs have played have been playing in a way that would give up 40+ points, and he has another capable offensive teammates alongside him.
It might happen vs the Celtics though, we'll see.

How many 40 points games did Jalen Brunson have this postseason? How many did Kyrie have? Luka still has zero.

Who cares about 40 point game comparisons? Irving balled out tonight and Luka wasn’t spectacular but he wasnt bad at all. The difference in these teams is the contributions they get from players 3-8. Holiday and White are better then any Mavs players not named Irving and Luka. Boston is just the better team overall 1-8.

You don't get it at all. Someone on Dallas needs to play well enough to make the Celtics have to adjust defensively. Scoring under 40 points plays right into the Celtics hands.

No i dont think you get it at all which is no surprise. Everybody on Boston can switch defensively. They dont panic on the defensive side of the ball. The Mavs need someone other than Irving and Luka to step up and have a big game, become another offensive threat.

Which means that superstar Hall of Fame bound Luka Doncic is being guarded one on one. Advantage Mavs...Right? Your superstar is supposed to cook one on one defense. There is nothing new about what I am stating. When your superstar scorer is being guarded one on one he is supposed to carry the load with his scoring FORCING the defense to double him. The Celtics are not close to being forced to double Luka because he hasn't dropped 40+ the entire postseason.

If you are watching the games you will see that he is scoring against anybody Boston is throwing at him. But….he is struggling from 3, not getting to the free throw line like he typically does, Boston is taking away his lob passes to Gafford/Lively, and Luka is turning the ball over too much.
Dosesnt negate the fact that the Mavs need someone other than Irving and Luka to be a scoring threat.

Luka has 25 at halftime and they are up by 26 points. Heliocentric basketball needs 40+ point efforts when one on one defense is presented.

Unfortunately Luka did not meet your expectation and gave a zero in the 4th. 40p is just a magic number too much for him
