..In Canada of course.

Just FYI. I presume this includes the NBA.

Rogers Communications signs content deals with NBCUniversal and Warner Bros Discovery

(Reuters) - Rogers Communications has entered into multi-year deals with Comcast-owned NBCUniversal and Warner Bros Discover to bring sports and entertainment content to Canada, the telecom giant said on Monday.

The move comes at a time when Rogers is looking to boost its presence in sports and entertainment content to attract a reliable and loyal audience amid stiff competition.

Rogers will launch NBCUniversal's Bravo channel in September and it will hold the English-language content rights in Canada. Starting January 2025, it will have access to Warner Bros. Discovery's brands including HGTV, and The Food Network among others.

Rogers said with the new U.S. licensing deals it is planning to increase investments in original content and independent production over the next decade.

"This investment also advances our position as a strong Canadian broadcaster that can compete with foreign streamers” said Colette Watson, president, Rogers Sports & Media.

Rogers has been trying to get as much content as possible lately. They took UFC from TSN a few months ago.
I know they already had a relationship with comcast because when I was living in Florida during covid, comcast/rogers have the same interface and equipment for tv.

Does their nhl deal expire soon? Tired of having the nba and other sports relegated to the non-basic cable sportsnet channels due to hockey being on

Seems like they're trying to acquire content for when they inevitably lose hockey to Amazon.

Yup, they over indexed on how much they thought they could monetize it. And that's with SN Now performing pretty well actually.

I still hate Robbers and I stream stuff anyway. I haven't had cable in years.

Literally. I don't pay for these things anymore. Waste of money and even if I was interested, Rogers would be the last company I'd go to for anything.

Didn't help that the Matthews ere has been a playoff flop year after year.
Is anybody here a marine biologist?
