DDV (11.5)
Caruso (9.9)
Achiuwa (6.3)

Brunson / McBride
KAT backs up the 5. Achiuwa can play the 4 along side him.
Hart and OG can both play the 4 next to KAT.

There's no negotiation. He knows what the max we can offer him is and we're going to give it to him.
iHart likely knows right now if he's leaving or not, but every public statement he's made strongly implies that he wants to stay.
So you are assuming the other teams are tempering and already made him offers.
I think there is a chance he gets paid and leaves. But I suspect he is not plan A for any cap space team. They should be after PG13, OG, Siakam, Miles Bridges, Klay Thompson, Claxton, Tobias Harris, DeRozan, Harden, and Monk.

Another player we can land using the MLE is Bruce Brown (assuming Toronto does not pick his option).

We don’t need Bruce Brown. He doesn’t fill a need.
What we need:
Shot creator + scorer off the bench
Stretch 4/5 off bench
Classic back PG who can run an offense
Legit bonafide #2 star player
A big guard who can play multiple positions and create for themselves.
Some of these needs can be combined into 1 player.

When that multi-millionaire is looking for a late night fix, it is.
He can have his choice of any ethnicity in women or cuisine in food at any time of the day or night in NYC. Those choices are a bit more limited in the bayou.

all those articles are pure speculation.
Who else is out there to replace Hartenstein with or who else is out there that would be interested in giving him more money than the Knicks are allowed to?
To answer the former, the guy that probably would fit the most as a Hartenstein replacement if he bolts for OKC is Jonas Valanciunas. You'd get a offense/defense 2 headed monster with Mitch. Valanciunas isn't necessarily the greatest defender but he's smart. He rebounds and passes very well and can create his own shot. He had a really weird year this season with the Pelicans but and IMO was a bit out of shape but assuming he buys into Thibs system (he is a pretty intense player) then I think the fit would be interesting.
Nic Claxton is a FA but I don't see there's a chance that the Nets would let him leave nor would they sign and trade him to NY in any case.
Mason Plumlee and Daneil Theis are other options that may offer a similar type albeit lesser talent. Mo Bamba and James Wiseman are both available and the physical tools are obviously there but I don't think he's going to necessarily fit. But you never know. IF they can "turn/unlock" either Bamba or Wiseman then it could be a steal at what they are projected to be able to get in FA.
Dario Saric has been playing some C and he's a talented player. His style may fit Thibs and the Knicks but obviously he doesn't have the ideal size (a few inches short of 7 feet).
i was asking who else is out there are far as teams that realistically will pay Ihart significantly more than us and be a situation that makes sense for him and the team.
But i appreciate the breakdown. Valanciunas is interesting - would he take the MLE and potentially come off the bench? he's great in the post and sets good screens. also good passer like you mentioned. concern is defense if he does start or play alongside randle. wiseman could be good too.

i don't think he knows yet. i also think it's normal for a player to look forward to being courted - teams are going to fly him out and pitch him etc. feels good to be wanted. but i still only think he leaves if he gets significantly more in total money.
like if OKC offers him a 2/45 or something - i don't think he would take that over our max offer.

I agree, but I think he has an idea of what other teams will offer right now. He might still go for the free dinners and butt kissing, but I'm sure his agents will make it known what his "offer he can't refuse" number is.
If their offer is reasonably close to the $17M the Knicks are offering, I don't think that gets it done for them.

And ... ?![]()
You have to play the cards we're dealt. That means that Hartenstein will leave if we don't pay him $16-7 million/year. Then what happens? Who do you want to trade for and what are you willing to give up for that - as of now - fictitious center.
I think that we have to sign I-Hart to that deal. If anything, maybe then we trade Mitch and a pick or two for some package that brings us back a serviceable backup center who Thibs will trust/play along with whatever else we get back in return. But I have no idea what that deal will look like. Who's out there that's available?
i'm saying that i'd rather keep mitch on his contract and find another backup than shell out a bag for hartenstein. i think investing in him as our starting center after seeing what elite bigs did to him in the playoffs is a mistake
I see. It's hard to say for me because I think that given Mitch's injury history, we need a backup center who could step in if Mitch continues to have problems with the foot/ankle. I just don't know who is out there.
If we don't resign I-Hart, what about trading Bojan to the Cavs for Jarrett Allen?

I love our players but if there is any way to upgrade (not sideways but true upgrades), we should not hesitate to make trades. The ideal world is where every player on the floor can play both sides of the game. Celtics going from decent players like Marcus Smart and Grant Williams to Jrue and Porzingis were excellent moves. If we can upgrade any position, rather moving Mitchell for a two way center or Hart for a true second/third option, we should not hesitate for one second.
Bojan + picks for:
1. Brogdan?
2. Deni Advija?
3. DeRozan?
4. Caruso and Dosumu?
Why would the Wizards and the Bulls trade Deni and Ayo? They are young and cheap. They would not hurt a rebuilding process and they can break out or stat pat in this scenario.
I don't know if dealing Ayo would help Chicago to compete now. It's good to have players like him locked in cheap contracts due to CAP restrictions.
I agree on Deni. I think the Wiz probably keep him but where are they going with him? Nowhere fast. We'd have to hand over a bunch of draft picks to entice them.
We could include the Pistons' top 5 protected pick?

For instance, Melton and Caruso are rumored as targets.
