NBA bans Raptors' two-way player Jontay Porter for life. "The league’s investigation found that prior to the Raptors’ March 20 game, Porter disclosed confidential information about his own health status to an individual he knew to be an NBA bettor. Another individual with whom Porter associated and knew to be an NBA bettor subsequently placed an $80,000 parlay proposition bet with an online sports book, to win $1.1 million, wagering that Porter would underperform in the March 20 game."

What a waste of an opportunity.

Jontay Porter Co-Conspirator Arrested Trying To Board Flight From JFK To Australia

A man accused of working with Jontay Porter to place prop bets on NBA games has been arrested. Porter had accumulated large gambling debts in the beginning of the year and was encouraged to clear those debts by throwing games.

Long Phi Pham, 38, also known as “Bruce,” was arrested on Monday while trying to board a flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport to Australia on a one-way ticket, according to a complaint filed in Brooklyn federal court.

Porter allegedly told Pham that he was going to take himself out early from the Jan. 26 game against the Los Angeles Clippers, claiming he was injured, the feds said.

Porter allegedly communicated with the group of co-conspirators through the Telegram group chat app when he notified them before a game on March 20 against the Sacramento Kings, claiming that going to say he was sick to leave a game early.

The NBA banned Porter for life on April 4th.

The feds are looking for three additional people who remain at-large.

I like him. I believe he knows the Kings aren't the best system for him, so he wants out, but with any team in this league he must realize he better prove himself early. The negative is that the NBA culture might not be for him.

I heard that Kentucky offered Hurley $11million per year a few months back.

Lakers came in with a $11.6 million per year offer.

Seems like $15 million per year gets it done. But for a franchise that pays Austin Reaves $13 million annually, a few extra million to get their preferred coaching candidate was a bridge too far.

I agree.
Lakers falling way short here and probably don't want to give him the control he wants. Someone of his caliber won't tolerate Lebron bossing him around and bullying him in the media. The Lakers ownership looks pathetic .

5-star SF Will Riley alters top 5 options

Will Riley, one of the top prospects in the 2025 class, has made a change to his top five options. In late April, the 6-foot-8 small forward out of The Phelps School (PA) announced Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Kentucky, and the NBL as his finalists.

Bulls rejected Top-10 2024 draft pick for Alex Caruso trade

Alex Caruso does for the Bulls’ defensive culture and identity what DeRozan does for their offense. Given the team’s stated desire to remain competitive, they have resisted trading Caruso despite tantalizing offers. The Bulls took calls on Caruso, but never made them. According to a source with knowledge of the situation, the Bulls have received offers from multiple teams, consisting of multiple protected first-round picks. One of those deals included a pick in the top-10 of the 2024 Draft, the source said. The Golden State Warriors were among teams who made a strong offer for Caruso, multiple sources confirmed.
