McCollum to Charlotte Take 3

Post#1 » by Colbinii » Tue Jun 11, 2024 7:51 pm

I tend to tell others simple is better. I will follow my own advice on this take.

Charlotte Out: Davis Bertans, Vasilije Micic, Nick Richards
Charlotte In: C.J. McCollum

New Orleans Out: C.J. McCollum
New Orleans In: Clint Capela, Vasilije Micic

Atlanta Hawks Out: Clint Capela
Atlanta Hawks In: Davis Bertans, Nick Richards

Quick Glance
-Charlotte adds a win-now player who fits inside of the Cap Hold for Bridges and the 141 Million Salary Cap.
-New Orleans adds a starting-caliber Center and back-up ball-handler who can take on a veteran presence in the back-court. Micic makes sense as a piece due to the defensive-slant and offensive limits of Alvarado/Daniels as the teams other ball-handlers.
-Atlanta saves money here and gives OO the inside track to start opening night at Center.

Rosters
LaMelo Ball/Tre Mann
C.J. McCollum/
Brandon Miller/
Miles Bridges/Grant Williams/J.T. Thor
Mark Williams/

honestly if Capela for our trash is available, I think I prefer that to taking on multiple years of CJ, especially if we get to keep Micic.

I just appreciate that this is a 3-team trade that doesn’t involve picks. Very old school.

No thanks. We did the big slow center thing already.

my thoughts exactly, if we could somehow get Capela for Richards and Bertans then i'd be all over it.

Capella plays much differently than Val.

Was talking about Adams. Can Capela switch and defend on the perimeter?

To a degree higher than JVal? Yeah.

Defending on the perimeter isn't a black/white thing. Bam Adebayo is probably the best big man who defends on the perimeter, but being worse than him doesn't constitute being unable to defend on the perimeter.

I think Capella is good enough to go deep into the post-season, if that's your question. He still has limitations and strengths/weaknesses.
