Hunter Biden found guilty
I'm curious what some people think.
It's worth noting that his guilty charge had absolutely nothing to do with his laptop, or the job he got in the Ukraine, which was perfectly legal (Trumps kids made way more money off foreign deals than Hunter did).
But he was a drug addict and he bought a gun which required a form where he had to check a box "I'm not addicted to drugs", which he was at the time . . . so, it's kind of open and shut. When family members testify that he was smoking crack every 20 minutes and he bought a gun during that period, that's pretty open and shut on the guilty verdict.
But this is rare that a person is gone after by the DA for being a drug addict 6 years ago, long since reformed, and his wife threw away his gun, which . . . Hunter didn't do that, and apparently a homeless person found the gun in the trash. It's like a bad law and order episode.
And I'm sure Trump jizzed himself upon hearing the guilty verdict. . . . And I'm sure this will be a subject Trump will raise many times during the debate, which will be interesting. On the one hand, Trump will be crying "Witch hunt" for his guilty verdict, and just moments later, he'll be screaming "justice" for the Hunter Biden guilty verdict. You know Trump's going to go in both directions.
I still feel funny about selectively applied lawsuits. How many children of rich people did things similar to what Hunter did and were never charged? What's the message here, "don't run for president if you have a kid who does drugs" - is that really the standard we need, not the person's ability or integrity, but the other side will go after their kids if they win?
It'll be interesting to see what the Judge will do.
It's worth noting that I'm quite sure Trump could have pleaded out of his NY charges. He didn't want to.
Hunter reached a plea deal and was perfectly fine with pleading guilty, admitting his mistakes and getting a more standard, 2 years' probation sentence.
But a Trump appointed judge unraveled that. Getting involved and grilling both sides. Judge Maryellen Noreika, (Trump appointed) wanted this to go to trial. Aileen Cannon gets all the attention, but I question whether Judge Noreika is every bit as crooked and partisan/bias as Aileen. Her explanation "She wanted to be sure that justice was served" . . . so where is her involvement on the hundreds of cases that are pleaded out under her watch every year? This one was special to her. That makes her a bad judge.
I guess I'm just venting. Curious if anyone else has any thoughts. Any legal minds want to add to or correct anything I said?

I mean, I didn't follow the case at all except for an excerpt or two from NPR, but he obviously was guilty.
Both Trump and Hunter like "this isn't even the worst thing I did IN VEGAS, THAT VISIT."

When it comes to children of powerful people, Hunter is a crumb of concern compared to the crimes of Kushner and Ivanka. MBS who hacksawed to death a journalist from America with Trump's approval funded Kushner for $2B.

Biden said publicly that he wouldn't pardon him. Still, I have to wonder, depending on the sentence. Maybe wait till after the election is won and then, do it joe. Do it. Give the Republicans something to cry about.

The only place that might be able to explain all of this is at https://www.emptywheel.net/ which Buzz exposed me to.
The blog owner investigated the trial thoroughly. I did not read much of it, but they broke it down and exposed a lot of legal BS going on.

This is really just scratching the surface of the crimes Hunter and his pops are guilty of. This will unfortunately be used by people to point to the legitimacy of the courts “see they got Hunter too” but justice isn’t served until the Bidens are held to account for selling out the country.

lol his avi and sig both have the same phrase referring to one party as "the elephant" and the other as "the jackass"
That's all you gotta look at to see what team he's really playing for.
