Denver/Sacramento(Davion Mitchell on the move)
This trade would happen on draft night, before the new salary year takes effect.
Denver Trades: Reggie Jackson, #28
Sacramento Trades: Davion Mitchell
Why: Denver adds a defensive point guard who hasn't thrived for the last 2 years in Sacramento. Sacramento gets the expiring contract of Reggie Jackson who they can try to move to free up cap space or keep and they also get a late 1st rd pick to package with #13 or use.
Also I thought about adding Detroit to take the Reggie Contract and Denver or Sac would send them a 2nd rd pick.

I like this either way.
Could also resign Reggie on the cheap as insurance and a vet combo guard.

Re: Denver/Sacramento(Davion Mitchell on the move)
The contracts are potentially a wash, so it really comes down to if we like someone at 28. If we do, sure I'd do this.

Mitchell makes more than reggie so its illegal if denver remains above 2nd apron (ie keep kcp)

This trade happens on draft night before the new cap year starts. Reggie and Mitchell both make 5 million. It's a legal trade.Godaddycurse wrote:Mitchell makes more than reggie so its illegal if denver remains above 2nd apron (ie keep kcp)

Davion makes 5.063 mil vs Reggie's 5 mil, so its not legal

Denver was in the 1st apron this season which allows them to take a little more salary. Legal trade.Godaddycurse wrote:youngthegiant wrote:This trade happens on draft night before the new cap year starts. Reggie and Mitchell both make 5 million. but the fact you are making the trade after the finals/end of this season means that by making that trade you are hard capping yourself to the 2nd apron for 24-25. I could be wrong/maybe check with scoot on this one

Per Bobby Marks and Keith Smith the new apron restrictions are already in effect. Denver cannot take in more than 100%.

So if they wanted to do it can’t the pick the player at 28 the Kings want and then legally make the trade.
So say they Draft Chomche and trade
Reggie plus Chomche
Receive Davion.
I think the Kings absolutely do this trade if they think they will resign Monk who really is a point. If they think they are going to lose Monk then they keep Davion.

Just add in Pickett or Tyson for a late 2nd.

Correct. Denver would hard cap themselves at the first apron by completing this deal, as they would be acquiring a player by taking back more than 100% of the salary they send out.
The apron restrictions went into play as of the day after the last day of the regular season. The important restriction that might be missed here is that any action taken by a team as of the day after the last day of the regular season applies to their cap treatment for that offseason AND the entirety of the next season.
First apron restriction
Beginning on the day after the last day of the 2023-24 Regular Season, teams will be unable to use a TPE in excess of 100% of the Salary of the Traded Player(s).
Administration of Transaction Rules
a. The transaction rules will work in the same manner as the Tax Apron rules set forth in the current CBA – i.e., a team with a Team Salary that exceeds the applicable Apron level will be unable to engage in the applicable transactions, and a team that engages in one or more of such transactions will be unable to subsequently have a Team Salary that exceeds the applicable Apron level in such Salary Cap Year.
b. A team that engages in any of the trade transactions described under the First and Second Apron Level rules above after the last day of the Regular Season of a Salary Cap Year will be unable to subsequently have a Team Salary that exceeds the applicable Apron level for the remainder of the then-current Salary Cap Year as well as for the immediately following Salary Cap Year. (Notwithstanding this general rule, there will be certain transition rules applicable to trade transactions occurring during the period from the day after the last day of the 2023-24 Regular Season through June 30, 2024.)

they can't aggregate salary because they would be above 2nd apron if kcp comes back i believe

Re: Denver/Sacramento(Davion Mitchell on the move)
No thanks from the Nuggets side. Mitchell only has one year on his contract and isn't that good to begin with. Denver really needs players that they can keep on the books for cheap for four years, especially with a lot of future first round going out in trades.
