Re: ORL - SAC
I think if this happened, Orlando would be very happy with Carter or McCain. 4 years cheap rookie contract,
I don’t think Sac does the OP.
And Orlando would still have the cap space for Hartenstein or Claxton I believe?

Re: ORL - SAC
There is so much to LOL at here.
A guy who FINALLY managed to play 58 games at 16mpg is suddenly going to be this generations Bill Russell.
And same guy is likely to be the NBA DPOY!
And he’s worth more than any lotto draft pick.
And he’s worth more than a guy who gives the Magic there biggest missing thing - good 3pt shooting.
Oh and don’t forget the comments about signing Monk away even though it’s become very clear to us here in Sac that he intends to stay. I guess if you offered 4/$100 million he’d go but I’d say take him then.

Okay, just checking in. My apologies. I'll work on sticking to more realistic scenarios in the future.
so, is that what was 100x said? Somebody mod the mod.

Re: ORL - SAC
I put Sac by a little because I think 13 is going to be largely forgettable after 2 or 3 years in this draft. This smells like 2013 without Giannis. Not to say you can't find a good player somewhere in this draft, but the Magic have 18 and I think rather go with the devil they know (Isaac) than the devil they don't (another young player that could be in the 20s in a normal strength draft).
That said the value seems fine in a vacuum. Obviously Isaac has injury issues but was mostly fine this season and much of the missing time was keeping him safe for the playoffs.

He was on a per minute basis the most impactful defensive player in the entire NBA.
But he also only played 58 games at 16 MPG.
He's very much in the "he means more to us, than we could reasonably get back for him in trade" - at least in my mind.
My thoughts exactly on most trades regarding JI. He has to be part of a package to get a target I covet much more than Huerter to do the deal, but I doubt other teams would value him as much as our FO/fan base seems to.

Also, after having 2 rookies that barely got playing time last season, I doubt the team would want to have teo 1st round picks again this summer, with another 2 coming next summer.
Absolutely and the Kings should let Monk go and use the cap space next year to sign Isaac if he proves to be healthy.

Orl trades: Isaac/#18/Future 1st
Sac trades: Huerter/Sasha/#13
Hawks trade: DJM
Orl Receives: DJM
Sac Receives: Isaac
Atl Receives: Huerter/Sasha/#13/#18/Future 1st
WHY:
Orlando: Get the PG that fits next to Suggs while dipping into some assets. Would still be able to add shooting in FA as this only takes out around $8m. Another possibility here is adding in Capela.
Sacramento: Exactly as BPCox. The Kings lose Huerter but have a few different SGs who can replace Huerter’s production (Ellis & Monk). They do give up a cost controlled lottery pick but do so to get the best fit at PF next to Sabonis in hopes to take the Kings to the next level. They also retain Barnes in case Isaac has some injury issues (allowing them to have Barnes spot start).
Atlanta: Get a good return for DJM which will not only see the Hawks able to compete at a similar level the contracts of Huerter and Sasha (essentially expiring) aren't going to get in the way of the young players if they move past them. Overall the drop in on court production is far outweighed by draft picks coming in. They can package the #13/#18 for a move up, draft the players there or trade out.

I would have to strongly consider this trade if I was the Orlando GM.

I think this is the offseason that the Magic FO make their move. Whoever they decide to sign, if an overpay is needed to get the right piece, they will do it. If it's Monk at $100M so be it. Keep in mind that $90M in FL is a lot more than $90M in CA. We don't have state income taxes here, so it's many millions different!

I believe players pay income taxes in the states that the games are held. Now Magic players dont pay taxes in 47 games in FLA (incl Heat) and two more in Memphis plus another 3 in Texas. They pay state taxes on the other 30 games.

Why for ORL? Magic add much needed shooting to help space the floor more. Huerter’s age also allows him to grow with their young core. This also maintains their cap space for the 2024 offseason while at the same time adding a lottery pick to their young core.
PG - Black / Anthony
SG - Suggs/ Huerter
SF - Wagner / Howard / Houston
PF - Banchero / Ingles / Okeke
C - Carter / Wagner
Picks - #13 / #18

SG - Ellis / Monk* / Duarte / Jones
SF - Murray / Barnes
PF - Isaac / Lyles / Vezenkov
C - Sabonis
Picks - #45 / #46

It’s an overpay without the 13 included.
JI has no trade value at this point. Certainly not lotto + a real NBA player value.
Currently…
JI is a hope, not an actual player. He is worth zero at best.

Even if value is fair, based on injury history, likelihood of crash, etc…there’s really zero debate about impact. JI may have been the ORL player who impacted winning most this past season. When (if?) he’s on the floor, he’s overwhelmingly apparent…so, he’s either a huge get or a fail for his team (Isaac is expiring too- so the risk is minimal vs high-upside, especially next to Sabonis). Huerter is just a guy on a pretty big contract. Nice player, happy to take him into cap space, maybe for a couple srps…OP just doesn’t make sense for ORL, given their cap situation this summer and newfound defensive identity.
*the sour grapes response about “we’ll just sign him next year (if you sign Monk)” isn’t as plausible. Monk is an unusual situation, given SAC’s inability to match or offer what appears to be his new market value…combined with ORL’s glaring need and timely cap space. Honestly, I’m leaning towards believing ORL FO might not see Monk as the answer…it’s just easy FA talk given that he’s just hanging out there- to be plucked.
