The luster is taking on a tarnish on Luka's reputation this series. He hasn't played team basketball. In front of the entire basketball loving world he's cryed for fouls ,flopped instead of moving his lead feet on defense ,then cryed more to the refs to make calls for him.
To make it worse he didn't hustle back when it's the NBA Finals.
It's on him as the guy who holds the ball more than any other player ,even Boston players to get his team some pts. Mavs have'nt scored over 100 pts yet. The Pacers shredded Boston's defense even as their PG was injured in 2 of those games. They lost but showed the NBA world Boston can be scored on . Mavs ISO heavy offense was snuffed out as it was the perfect offense for the Boston defense to play against.
Luka tryed to beat Boston by himself and has looked ugly in doing so.

For a kid who says scoring in the NBA is easier, he sure finding some difficulty right now being down 0-3. And on national TV to boot. A bad look for our guy. He'll learn from this like Dirk in 2006.
Dirk lost in the finals 4 straight after being up 2-0. Albeit that was on that ref who was into sports betting. Dirk was also on that number 1 seed Mavs that got booted out of the first round. But was able to redeem himself in 2011. At the end of the day, it's a "day job" for Luka. How far he takes the team would depend on how hard he works on his game.

It's not over till it's over.
It's over. I watched basketball long enough to know that despite how much a die hard Mavs fan I am.
Yeah, it's most probably over. But stranger things have happened. The team has gotta have the "why not us" mentality to make some history now. They can beat this team. I expect them to win Game 4.

Luka has all the talent in the world, but it seems like he's content with where he is...he loves the game, loves to complete, but there's more to the Life of an athlete...you need to take care of your body/conditioning/eating habbits...I hope this finals loss lights a fire in him and he finaly starts to be more profesional, take better care of his condition, complains less... he's not a kid anymore, it's time to grow up or he's risking beconing the New James Harden, a great Player but not a Winner, teamplayer, Just a Guy with great stats
If you take a dive into his thinking, the reason he complains is because he's used to getting those calls in Europe. No person would complain as much if that type of priviledge wasn't extended to him or available at any point in his life. The reason he's complaining because he was used to that before and now that's taken away. If there's no precedent, then there's no basis for complaints.
Actually he didn't get these calls in Europe,he was just a young kid back then, not a superstar...and if he complained coach quickly put him in his place...it actually started in the NBA and got worse around his third NBA season, when he reached the superstar status...nobody called him out on it and it escalated with every season untill it was too late...I Just don't see him ever changing now, unfortunately...the organization has enabled this behaviour for to Long...the problem is they didn't have a good veteran in the team that would mentor him...Dirk and JJ Barea were there Just for his first season... it's a shame the world gets to see this version of him,the worst one(complaining, attitude) and not the one we,Mavs fans , know he can be when he's focused, not complaining

If he didnt get superstar calls in Europe, and is suddenly expecting to get said calls now in the NBA finals with no historical basis of it being possible, then wouldn't that make him a spoiled brat asking for something that's not out there to begin with?
Why expect something to be given to you when there's no scenario that indicated that that priviledge was available to you in the first place? See my point?

Because everybody in the Mavs organization and the National team(where the coach is Just a puppet) have been going on( for the last couple of years) about how he gets fouled all the time and doesn't get the calls...I don't know what happened, but like I Said for the last three years his behaviour has been horrible...yes he complained the first two-three years in the NBA,but no where near as much as for the last few

Jason Kidd panicked for all of us to see.......... he put in Tim Hardaway Jr and Maxi Kleber HOPING for times of old and they play their best basketball when their best is not very good anymore .
I saw another poster say ,it was embarrassing . That's being kind ,it pissed me off ....

To me it's not Kidd or the Mavs organization. We're seeing Luka complain to the refs on live TV. Which is a bummer for the NBA finals. Best Mavs can do is hope for a gentleman's sweep. Maybe win one so it's not 4-0.

It's easy to write it now when the things go to Cancun.
I warned you when this team was rolling... Kidd is a joke.

Kidd is just a player coach and everybody are happy for it.
No sense to complain now.

Almost everyone here wanted JKidd fired during the season. AND almost everyone predicted he would fall on the sword ,that meaning playing Kleber and THJ when the season was on the line ....he did just what nobody wanted him to do.

Seriously speaking guys, do you think adding Lebron to this existing lineup would work? Because there is a very real possibility Kyrie could recruit someone like him. Just a thought.
C - Lively / Gafford
PF - Lebron / Kleber?
SF - Washington / DJJ
SF - Doncic / Green
PG - Kyrie / Exum / Hardy

Trading Luka looks the best option at this moment. Other is trading you, but I doubt we will get much for you.

I hope you understand, Mavs came in the Finals playing the whole season exactly the same. The only difference is that they never played against team, whose starting 5 have 0 weaknesses. Mavs greatly overachieved, considering roster they should be out in round #2.
To play like you want to play, you need at least 4 players capable of ball handling and creating something for themselves and others the whole time in the court. You can't move the ball with roster Mavs have. Which is painfully evident, when Luka sits.
But hey, maybe you and Arkuo can became assistant coaches and show Kidd how to play winning basketball with B roster in comparison to Celtics.

LeBron has 0 intentions to come in Dallas. Far more likely, but still very unlikely, would be Kyrie forcing his way in LA. We will start next season with very similar team, just signing DJJ would be a success. Hopefully we can get some improvements in February.

Highly likely your scenario happens. But you never know with Lebron chasing rings towards the end of his career. Whether he lands in Golden State or Dallas with Kyrie.
One thing to note though is Dallas has new ownership. And new owners tend to be over eager at the start. So we 'll see.

Props to Mavrelous for fighting on GB.
We should understand that it was really great year for Mavs. Not only playoffs run, but finally having young core. We're going in postseason in totally different situation than last year.
Media, other fan bases and usual suspects here will have hot takes about Luka, forgetting that he did everything in his capacity to help Mavs to win, even abusing his body, getting pain injections. He could easily sit in Clippers series, like Kawhi did, but he didn't. Allen didn't want to take pain injections and sat few weeks because of bruised ribs. I believe he should get some respect for that, but can understand hysteria prevailing.
I believe we had overall pretty good discussion here, I'm, like Mavs will be soon, off to vacation. See you next season.

Luka was horrible tonight, this L is on him and it's even debatable.
0 defense, bad shooting night, bad shoots selection and 48 minutes of whining.
He was hard to watch honestly.
But Bob, i agree that Boston is the better team but acting like they are the Warriors with KD are too much.
Mavs team is talented enough to make it close, 0-3 and went -20 tonight without KP is embarassing.
40yo Horford is their starting C and they have mediocre role players from the bench, are Hauser-Pritchard-Tillman really better than our bench?
PJ can create for himself and we never used Gafford/Lively against Tatum or another small defender, Boston has weakness but we only attacked their strong sides.
Kidd probably will be ready to make some adjustments against Boston maybe next September according his standards.

Yeah but it's no point doing it. Luka will have to go through all the fan BS that Jokic had to go and Dirk before him until he wins the ring. A lot of people can't wait to troll and **** on him because he's just that good.
No one watched the western conference run and now they just see 3 games and there are 4 topics about his defense. People simply don't care that he can barely move his feet due to injuries. It's a lot harder to play defense than offense if you're injured to the point that you have to take painkiller injections.

He reached the finals, and he played great defense in Clippers series and Thunder series.
When he failed the team I called him out myself (game 4 choke job against the Thunder).
He's clearly injured and barely moving, and the whistle really isn't fair.
Defense wins draft lotteries!
