Total conjecture - they’re sending out the bat signal for Donovan Mitchell. Or someone else who might end up looking for a trade out. Butler? If Miami don’t want to give him his extension, maybe we will? Two time finalist, two way player, high iq.

This is why you keep assets and grow your young players

Draft BPA (Da silva)
you sign Monk on the cheap 88M/4Yrs

Opt out on Joe and offer him a cheap 1+1
Opt out on Moe and resign him once all the moves are done with some of our MLE
Offer a 1+1 Deal to gary
Offer a cheap 3yrs contract to goga (with team option on 3rd yr)

Suggs, AB, cole
Monk, Jett, Harris (Vet presence)
Franz, Houstan, Joe (Vet presence)
Paolo, Moe, Da silva
WCJ, JI, Goga

Then If/When a Start request a trade and have Orlando on their Wish list, you can now add Monk, WCJ and FRP to that offer
Suggs, AB, Tyus, Jase
Bane, AB, TDS , Jett
Franz, TDS, Panda

not sure any other team would want monk on that contract that is not cheap
i mean cole gets dumped on but had a better yr last yr then monk this yr yet want to pay monk 90 mill and gave cole 2 yr 26 mill 3rd yr option and he pretty easy could have bounce back yr that is better then monk had...grass is greener i guess?

Makes sense... You want to be a team that draws players eye.... The coaching, the team, team chemistry, facilities, etc. Great approach.

Imagine Donovan nearly getting kicked out by a scrappy young team in the first round. Where he had to have gone super Saiyan for his team to advance.... And all they were missing was a player like you. Haha.... That grass will look green! And guess goes for others as well as they play us during the season.

I'm on board with this. For me.... I'd bring back Fultz before Jingles... But I love me some Jingles vibe in the bench as well. Positionally... Switch Moe and JI.

I feel as though our bench is going to take a huge step forward with AB and Jett growth. Houstan isn't shy to pull the trigger ... And I hope this year he rounds out even more of his game.

IF your medium-term plan is to make a trade for a star, you might as well sign a decent player that you can package...you've already spent enough to kill the option of signing or absorbing them into all of the cap space we have. Might as well get Tyus too - on a reasonable deal, he's as safe an investment as you'll find. He's the Treasury Bond of available FA's...he won't disappoint or degrade in value, but he'll only take you so far.

I don't disagree with your direction...I just don't see much logic to sitting on that available cap money if you can use it, even in a slight overpay, on a short-term deal for a valued vet (like Kyle Anderson or Bruce Brown, etc)...we'll likely never have this kind of opportunity again (until the next rebuild).

However, you might have the support of the current generation of absentee owners. They might not have ANY interest in going over the cap, regardless of team performance or potential. That's a real possibility for inheritance owners in a small-market...where they don't even reside.

Not really expecting much, so should you.

All this anticipation only for them to play 2.5games.

I'm not thinking that they are going to be Gods on the court. But damn right I'm going to enjoy seeing what they can be during moments where they have expanded roles and possibly see their development.

P.S. It is possible to be realistic ... have limited expectations... and just enjoy the moment for what it is. It doesn't always have to be doom and gloom until proven otherwise. lol

So... no need to piss in people's cereal every single time they want to get excited about something.

love the idea of Jimmy, he would install culture. But his body is starting to break down. in the last 7 years, played 60+ games 3 times, 50+ games 4 times. and at 34, he has 1 year and 1 player option left and wants a max extension. That is too much risk

It’s similar to the idea of signing George or Klay to a big/max deal and the consequences of that 3 years down the line. Financially, it could constrain some moves, but if that can get the guys into some deep playoff runs then it’s worth it.

I think what WePark will be looking for most is a guy who’s capable of taking over but is prepared to defer to the young guys and give them growing opportunities at the same time. What Horford and JRue have come to be. What Paul was to Phoenix.

Jimmy might be too much personality for the youngins, but they also might be exactly the kind of hard workers he likes?

Donovan Mitchell would be a much better long term candidate, but he’d change up the hierarchy a lot more as someone who is a guaranteed top 2 option.

Agree. Mitchell all day...IF MIA is willing to let Butler fly - I trust them and pass.
