Kyrie doesn't want to go back to Boston, he is ready for his vacation. I'm expecting a disinterested game from Kyrie like his last game in a Celtics uniform against the Bucks. Would really be surprised if the Celtics don't close this out tonight.

I left the US for a trip to Ireland after we swept the Pacers... Crossing finger, toes, prayers, and shamanistic blessings that I return to the US with Celtics as WORLD CHAMPIONS

I want to be screaming in joy at 3:30 this AM!!

meatball sub wrote:when they talk about coming back they don't even believe what they're saying. you can tell in kyrie & luka's demeanor. they're saying it because they're expected to say it. they're ready to fold tonight as soon as they start missing a few shots.

we've already gotten the luka meltdown, which i expected to see from kyrie. at this point i'm sure kyrie just doesnt even care. he had his good game and scored 35 so in his warped mind he showed up in this series.

i also think the way underrated motive for boston in this series is the jays wanting to sweep kyrie. they'd never say it publicly but he absolutely quit on them when they were young and abandoned them by going to brooklyn. these guys want to beat kyrie just as much as they want to win this title.

In the past I'd disagree with the "sweep Kyrie" motive as they (especially JB) seem to be pretty close to him still. They were both often too nice. Now though I'm fully on board, and really it has little to do with Kyrie imo. They want to sweep EVERYBODY. They're tired of being doubted, tired of being the underdogs even when they're better than the competition, tired of having their accomplishments diminished, and they can taste having a lot of that end with a title. Kyrie is in the way of that, so while they may be nice to him publicly, I think privately they want to destroy him and the rest of the Mavs and I'm 100% here for it.

The downside of not getting to win on home court will be more than offset by the fun of knowing Kyrie checked out tonight so he doesn't have to go to Boston

It’s been 16 long years since Pierce, Garnett and Allen formed the Big 3, gelled instantly and accomplished the goal of Banner 17.

Been waiting for this day to arrive since the moment Sasha Vujacic’s two free throws sealed Game 7 for the Lakers in 2010.

In so many ways, this Celtics journey was worth the wait.

KG injuring his knee and never fully recovering. Rondo getting his elbow snapped by Wade in 2011. Lebron going nuclear in 2012 in Game 6 and 7 to put our storybook ECF run to an end.

The Big 3 era ending with the infamous trade to Brooklyn and the Gerald Wallace and Khris Humphries dark times beginning.

Brad Stevens arrival. The scrappy teams that followed, Jordan Crawford performances and hoping that guys like James Young, Kelly Olynyk and Jared Sullinger broke out into stars.

The insanely fun Isaiah Thomas “little guy/king of the forth” run. Finally signing our first big time free agent in a long time in Al Horford and that magical ride to the 2017 ECF.

Hoping to finally return to glory with the Irving trade, Hayward signing and the drafting of Smart, Brown and Tatum.

The devastation of Hayward snapping his ankle, minutes into the 2018 season and the magical run to Game 7 of the ECF that followed, led by rookies and young players, all while Kyrie decided to get a “nose job” and miss the game.

Injuries, indecision and having our former All Star quit on us against the Bucks and take his ball and run to Brooklyn, and then to make matters worse, lose to them the next year, while hobbled by injuries.

A pandemic, a bubble and a run to the ECF only to get humbled by Spo, Butler and the Heat.

The depature of Ainge, the shifting of Stevens and the hiring of Udoka. The noise of Brown and Tatum being able to co-exist and play together.

Finally breaking through to the Finals, beating Miami in a slugfest 7 games, only to have hopes of 18 crushed by the dynasty Warriors, led by all-time great Curry and a performance of a lifetime by Andrew Wiggins.

The Udoka scandal and having to replace our head coach, who led us to our only Finals appearance in a dozen years, just days before the season by an inexperienced Mazzulla.

The fight and determination to block out the noise and get back to the Finals, going down 0-3 and the epic ride of tying the series on a miraculous last second shot by White, only to have our All NBA star twist his ankle minutes into Game 7.

Trading Marcus Smart, the longest tenured Celtic, having Brad Stevens evolve into the best GM in the NBA, fleecing Holiday and Porzingis to build a wagon, with his coaching pick in Mazzulla settling into his role as leader and the growth and maturity by Brown and Tatum to become great, together.

And now, after all that, they’re here. Ready to put up Banner 18.

Enjoy the ride my fellow Celtics fans.

I was in SF at my annual Endocrine Society meeting that night w my GF of that era - a beautiful 5 8 blonde w perfect legs (a B cup but boobs not are not my favorite girl part) named Gail Maureen X - who did not know hoops from field hockey.
I WENT insane, & she slept through most of it even though the volume was way up & I was intermittently screaming. SMMFH.
I am not a drinker, but I drank a 1/2 bottle of champagne & could not sleep.
I was too athletically excited & drunk to have sex & was pissed that she barely watched - already had jizzed on the TV. (JOKE)
We broke up a year later because she was too **** needy - not because she had less than zero interest in ANY sport. LOL.

The next AM I went to a huge important plenary session with 5-10,000 endocrinologists wearing my Pierce jersey under a sports jacket. The speaker was from Mass General (appropriately) lecturing about something related to pituitary disease (one of my career long special interests). When he was done, I went to a microphone to ask a relevant Q. After I asked & he answered, I said “May I make one other F/U comment please?”. And I took off my sports jacket & announced loudly that the Celtics had won the chip the previous evening. 1/3 of this audience laughed & applauded. 1/3 of the audience did not give a **** & looked at me weirdly, & the 1/3 from overseas were murmuring ‘What is he talking about? Is that a Brit football team that plays Man United?’ LOL. I walked on air for weeks.

“CELEBRATE, GOOD TIMES.”

Yeah, Josh Jackson snubbed Ainge in 2017, before the draft.

I dreamed and posted of Jaylen and Josh Jackson becoming MJ and Pippen.

Not for me after 20 years on this Board? I had another name between 2004 - 2008.

Please read my anecdote above.

Things that would be satisfying about winning tonight:

1) Perfect 80-20 record on the year.
2) Finishing on 11 game win streak.
3) Finishing 15-1 since Kevin O' Connor tweeted that Nuggets tweet.
4) Sweeping both ECF and NBA Finals.
5) Winning it on Kyrie's home floor thus symbolically "stomping" on whatever the Mav's mascot is.
6) Leaving Boston sports talk radio not a single day in over a month in which they can complain about a Celtics loss.
7) Winning in a sweep even though 9 of 17 ESPN experts picked the Mavs, and nobody picked Boston in less than 6, thus rendering all ESPN experts very wrong.
